Alt - "This character belongs to someone else"

Been a while since I've made an alt, forgot exactly how it worked. Made the character, didn't show up on the site, tried to jump into a server to register it, get kicked with the message that it belongs to someone else. What am I missing?

I would tend to agree, but couldn't imagine anyone else would ever name their character Doozish.... I was more inclined to believe there's some error on my part. But I guess that's what's up.

Actually, I think I remember making a character and using that name a few months ago when servers were fucked and everyone had level 1 characters or something.... can't remember the specifics, but that's when I initially made and named that character. Being unofficial, they never showed up on the site as officially registered alts, but the name was saved and can't be used again now? Any way to.... change that?
