sounds like something wrong with your phone.. tried another one to see if the problem persists?
As a testament to apple quality my home cracked iphone 3g from 2008 still lives on. It's been constantly abused, I never took care of it or had a cover for it. Dropped it 100 times.
- It's been laying under oily seawater in my friends boat for 2 days. Left to dry on his piano then it was fine again.
And it still works fine 6 years later, although all the keys have eventually fallen off except the home key. Battery still lasts 2-3 days. Have you ever had a phone that lasts six years?
In my experience apple builds quality stuff that lasts, and it's worth the price. My apple laptop runs fine after 5 years, I can still edit HD films on it fine, even my 10y old or so g4 imac has a renewed life as a kind of torrent machine/router being on 24/7 silently, never heating up. These are both heavily abused machines. On my laptop I've been playing games under windows for years, never been turned off, rendering video for days on end. The only thing I had to replace was the fans and the battery eventually, something I just did myself.
My main computer is a hackintosh/pc tower thing and OSX is rock stable on it. Windows have crashed perhaps 10 times in a year.
And no viruses through 10 years of mac abusing. And I never take precautions with it.
To contrast my moms dell laptop has been to service around 4 times, and she only writes in word and surfs the web..
Apple builds shit with quality components, end of story, and consequently the product life is way longer on average than any comparable (random vendor) pc.
I would go so far as to say it has saved me tons of money going the mac route.
