I got a new desktop and it doesn't work. Well atleast, my monitor doesn't, the computer and the monitor both starts up but the monitor only says "No signal" while the computer seems to run fine.

Does your computer have a graphics card separate from the motherboard? Are you plugging the DVI cable into the graphics card, and if you are, is the graphics card connected to the motherboard?

Well the best way to find out is to look. Take off the panel and open your computer up, find out what you're plugging the cable into. If your tower powering on, and your monitor is powering on, and you have the right setting on the monitor (try pressing buttons until it works), then it's probably a communication issue between the tower and the monitor.

Maybe you have to deactivate the onboard video card in bios and activate the PCIe one. Also, please unplug the D-Sub cable and only use DVI. Another possible problem could be that you have a highres monitor but no DVI dual link cable (see picture below). And finally, what is possible is that your video card is not getting enough juice from the power supply. Did you connect the small black 4 or 6 pin plugs that are usually on the card's end that is opposite to the external interfaces?

Step by step. First, unplug the D-Sub cable. Then check the ports on your computer, maybe you have two DVI ports. Make sure you plug it into the lower one.
