Am I the only one who would have just stood there, grabbing the phone, calling the authorities and when it was save for ME, go and try to medical help?
Talk like "I would have beaten the shit out of them!" is pretty silly. Why would you endanger your own health, when just helping properly afterwards most likely does more good than anything else. Only people who never actually fought someone can come up with those kind of statements...
