I don't care about Doctor Who hipster shit, I don't watch it and never will. The british Top Gear is indeed the best and most funniest show about cars, I gotta agree there.

Also my post wasn't anti-british, they just tend to mess up good TV show ideas because they don't have the means and actors at their disposal like Hollywood/US and just do a bad job in general. They still have a great sense of humor and some of the best musicians.  :D
They do have great TV shows like The Office,  Peep Show and IT Crowd, the problem is that they just write them off way too early or go on a long hiatus for some reason,  still waiting for that season 5 of IT crowd.

I wasnt really refering to u, since well we cant all like the same things. I was refering to those that liked the first seasons and claim the current is bad.  I again dont like Mentalist. I've watched a few episodes and it feels incredibly generic to me. I mean by god, Teresa for instance is a totally bland character(based uppon those episodes ive watched). Sure some of this stuff in Sherlock doesnt make sense and he is a complete ass, but it's quite entertaining.

I find you incredibly generic. But it's ok, you're Latvian. It was meant to be.

You really haven't watched Doctor Who or Top Gear (not the 'murrican one) for example? Whoa, boy you don't know what you are missing!
(click to show/hide)

Both suck. Brits have much, much better TV shows. That are actually funny and entertaining.

I think the main problem with Sherlock is the subject matter is Mystery but the writers are standard drama writers. They don't really know how to tell a good mystery but as a drama they were OK.

If you want real Sherlock holmes style mystery then watch these: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086661/

Poirot is good mystery.
As someone who has watched all of them at least twice, I agree wholeheartedly. The mysteries are varied in quality and sometimes similar, but the characters are fantastic and makes me want to watch it over and over again.

To be fair most new British TV is shit. Its either Quiz shows or reality tv or soaps on these days :D you sometimes get a nice documentary series but mostly its OMG X Factor or Im a Celebrity or Dancing on ice or any of these utter trash tv shows :D (i dislike dr who btw)

The real good stuff we had/have are mostly comedy shows like:

Only Fools and Horses
Red Dwarf
Blackadder
The Royle family
Father Ted
Auf Wiedersehen, Pet
QI <-- most epic
Fawlty Towers

We have some decent panel shows like Have i got news for you but other than comedy its documentories :D The rest is terrible apart from the odd show here and there like Spooks and hustle

How about Luther?

Do agree though, I stopped watching TV ages ago because of the internet. There are decent things though amongst the crap, like with any country. Helps to have the BBC though even if they do put some crap on BBC1

I like the current Sherlock - the cast is brilliant!
I am a huge Top Gear - there simply is no better car show!
I like Luther - his dark and gritty being plus the funny serial killer friend is a nice touch!
Death in Paradies - Love it! (new season just started with a sad event but I am already satisfied with the "replacement")
Inspector Barnaby is great fun! :D
Lewis is a great movie series too!

I like a lot of British shows simply for the reason that there isn't exploding shit every 30 seconds and there is no "PewPew, I shot the car and there it goes into a fireball" bullshit all the time like in most American shows.
When west germany annexed east germany, nobody moved a finger too.

Richard Ayoade does direct stuff too (like Arctic Monkeys videos; he is mates with Alex Turner), afaik he's still around the UK mostly! (Also I served him once in the shop I worked, his local toy shop :P)

Oh also, forgot about Broadchurch. Decent murder mystery with one story that spreads over 8 episodes.
