So if we made fun of Buddhists, Hindus and Irish people (f.ex.) we are not racist?
But because we make fun of what he majority makes fun of, more often, we are racist? Even black people laugh about black jokes ...
if you made a few jokes about several groups, sure, that'd be in good fun
but the jokes on this forum are not spread out across a few groups, they're 90% about either black people or jewish people; it basically constitutes hate speech for crying out loud. if you made 90% of the jokes about buddhists and hindus, sure, you'd still be racist
what i wrote earlier ---- take black people as an example. how many jokes are made about black people being thieves, rapists, morons, in north america and central europe? i know from experience, these jokes go a long way to purporting that stereotype, people actually believe that shit. people actually believe that when they see a black person (as a result of hearing thousands of these jokes mixed with some news story or other they heard where a black man raped a white woman), that he's a rapist/thief etc.
this stuff really does real-world harm.
in my home town there are a lot of pakistanis and indians. there are racist jokes flying about all the time between people i know with slightly lower iq's (counting on their fingers), and they see it as harmless fun. they don't see the connection when they're then the ones on the street "paki bashing" as they lovingly call it, beating some poor asian kid up who happened to stray into the wrong white neighbourhood on his fucking paper round or something because a white woman got raped last week and these guys have been hearing this fucking 'propaganda' all their lives against these people. it's the same thing, you're just on the internet.
