Pino`s armours OSP

I`ve suggested it in the past aswell, but Tydeus wasnt in the balance team, so I might suggest it again.
Keep in mind that the stats are purely my suggestions and I will try to explain why these stats

1.Brown Leather Armour
weight: 7.5
body armor: 33
leg armor: 6
difficulty: 8

I chose these stats, because its something between the Heavy Aketon (30 BA & 10 LA) and Mail Fur (36 BA & 3 LA), as you can see its in total balance, +3 BD and -4 LA from Aketon BUT -3 BA and +4 LA from Mail Fur.

2. Light Leather Armour
weight: 4.9
body armor: 26
leg armor: 7
difficulty: 7

Picture of the armour :

3.Padded Leather Over Mail
weight: 11
body armor: 40
leg armor: 3
difficulty: 9
40 BA will set this armour to be better than the Aketon Brigandines, don`t forget that Padded Leather > Aketon, on the other hand the armour will be heavier than the brigandines with a lot less leg armour.

Picture of the armor :
(click to show/hide)

4.Saracen Mail
weight: 10.3
body armor: 37
leg armor: 10
difficulty: 9
Exact same stats with the Mail Haubers.

Picture of the armour :
(click to show/hide)

5.Saracen mail and Plate
weight: 15
body armor: 45
leg armor: 10
difficulty: 12
This stats will set the armour inbetween the Sarranid Guard armour and Brigandines over mail, -1 less armour from the Sarranid but +4 leg armouyr and +.5 kgr, and -1 BA and -2 LA but -.5 kgr from the brigandines over mail. Also we lack some Saracen armours.

The OSP has a lot more armours, but IMO these 5 are the the best ones, anyhow this is the original thread : http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=2834

And here are all the screenshots of the OSP : http://s1129.photobucket.com/user/pino1969/media/mb17-1.jpg.html?sort=3&o=1

I still don't understand why certain armors aren't added. I mean look at that Saracen Mail, add it!

Agreed Saracen mail is awesome
And now he can't play because of "common sense" and he doesn't understand how this common sense works

I've been an item balancer for over a year now, actually. We've talked about your threads multiple times. Generally they don't get added for well, lots of varying reasons. There are some items that if they were proposed by themselves, would have a much higher chance of getting in. Large proposals are much less likely to get in and at the moment we don't have an Item Manager(the position that's supposed to handle this stuff). To be honest, new armors just aren't something that keeps me interested and playing this mod. I said I'd try to get Zagibu's in, but that's because he's part of this community, anything else is really hard for me to devote time to.  :(

Edit: Personally, I like these armors. If we had an Item Manager I'd vote to pass these, but we don't. (Hint: Bug chadz A LOT)

Good enough for me, I have found some interesting OSP`s that I`m gonna post here in the suggestion corner individually hoping that one day an item manager will get recruited

Alright, I have looked through them, and some are very nice indeed. However, there is a problem with the normal maps. They don't activate the specular maps, probably because they weren't correctly made. This means metal parts aren't shiny for almost all of his armors, which looks very bad. I'll try to recreate the normal maps, but can't promise that it will work.

I was able to create a new normalmap that works together with the original specular map:

(click to show/hide)

I also added ten of his most interesting armors to the cRPGViewer. You can see that the normal maps work there, but ingame, they don't. You can also see that the textures themselves have a few problems, for example, there are strange shadows on most of them, best visible on the backside. And the transition from torso to arms is also not very well done on some of them.

I will continue working a bit on them, maybe I can salvage one or two more. The one with discs is a pretty interesting design, and the banded leather armor isn't bad either. The "Macle Shirt" (whatever that's supposed to mean) could also be worth salvaging, since it's basically a light scale armor in a design we don't have yet.

I think the macle shirt should looks okay, now, too. Gimp has a handy tool to make those baked in shadows less prominent.

I have worked on the disc shirt and think I was able to improve it quite a bit:

I was able to improve the banded leather with a new normal and specular map:

(click to show/hide)

Tomorrow, I will take a look at the padded leather, then I will suggest those four or five I prepared to the council.
