What is the best amount of wpf you need to land some decent hits at long range with xbaws :?:

Currently have a 130, but it doesn't seem to work for me, should i increase it to 160?
I've never played a server where people split up as much or as often as on EU1.  No wonder range is having a field day.

with which xbow? Arba or Heavy Xbow?
I'd go for 160 or more, currently have 175 with my xbow alt which works quite good.

How long is "long range"? Try 140, and give it a good run. You need to take target's movement into account, so if it's too far to hit with 140 WPPs, it will not help much to have 160... Even shooting semi-stationary archers is only reliable, if the bolt takes less than a second to fly. Otherwise, you can only count on shooting reloading x-bowmen, since they are forced to be stationary for a longer time.

What is the point of being able to hit something across the map, if it takes 2 seconds for the bolt to reach it's target? To shoot AFK targets?..

Now, of course, if you want a 100% pure crossbowman, invest the minimum needed Strength to use your favorite x-bow, and dump the rest in WM. Nothing else is needed, since you should be hiding at all times anyway :) Though it is boring imo, can just as well be an archer with that play-style.

EDIT:

Here is my gear :) And i am really happy with this setup:
