See here: http://www.nerdkingdom.com/

It seems extremely ambitious. I don't have any hopes, because hopes get dashed, but at least they're attempting something different.

I've got to wonder if they have anything to do with Love, too.

Concept looks real interesting but I'm not keen on their art style.

Maybe it's just going right over my head but I don't understand exactly what's going to be different or special about this game compared to others in a sand-box nature that's supposed to have user-input and content generation. What is going to make the environment and background unique? It's cool that there're Phd holders and behavioral scientists and what-not working on this but that's about the most innovative thing I saw about the video, that they were trying to do something other then finding out how best to use operant conditioning in videogames to sell more of them.
And how!

I guess they want to implement a content generation system similar to what Second Life did, that allows to create things outside of the "game rules". Kind of like in-game modding tools.

They're claiming that there won't be a pre-packaged mythos, implying that the players will create this as time goes on. The crafting looks particularly involved for an MMO, and then there's the physics based combat they promise. Currently we've got what...Xsyon that's close to that? Minecraft servers, I guess.

Love is a similar game, just through a surreal lens.

Here's some alpha stuff from TUG.

Developpers that come from a scientific rather than industrial background might lack the flexibility to change the game if their theoritically good game doesn't actually work, but who am I to already say this.

This game is going to be full of giant flailing cumming cocks like Second Life? Take my money.

We're going to have to hire more NSA and GCHQ guys to investigate.

They're claiming that there won't be a pre-packaged mythos, implying that the players will create this as time goes on. The crafting looks particularly involved for an MMO, and then there's the physics based combat they promise. Currently we've got what...Xsyon that's close to that? Minecraft servers, I guess.

I'm all down for crazy rag-dolling based physics but from the video crafting, at least the beginning stages, it seemed typical in it's progression of preventing player death. No pre-packaged mythos also screams to me that they don't want to hire a writer and we know what happens when users are given unfettered access to do what they want devoid of real-life consequences, in Ultima Online the creator was promptly assassinated as soon as he went to view his creation. What if the mythos that's born conflicts with my immersion and expectations of what the game is supposed to be about?

I love the idea of games where the player can exercise control over the game world but I feel like it always falls short of being meaningful in anyway. In an MMO setting you kind of have to balance the limits based on a lowest common denominator, too much "freedom" and people are going to be exploited and abused in-game driving away the player-base and too little is going to leave you with a decidedly bland experience. It's ambitious but it seems like "safe innovation".
And how!

I would stay away from TUG, if you ask me. Their intentions don't seem sincere to me and with all this government surveillance shit going everywhere, I really don't need some dudes posing as gamedev company to experiment on me as a player.

Wait for Everquest Next, it's based on the same engine. It will look a ton better, will be proper MMORPG, Sony is behind it, it will have everything as TUG plus much more and polished at that.
