Heavy rounds are the poor man's huscarl knock off. If you like getting shot in the head through your crappy shield by arbalests then keep on using heavy rounds.

Plus it's the cheapest shield requiring 3 shield skill.

Brown lion shield's the best of the faster shields, imo. Best balance of armor, hp, and speed. I remember watching somebody...Balborath?

Knightly heater and knightly kite are best fast shields (High resistance/armor).  Elite cav is pretty good too, not as good though.
