oil pond and stationary arbaleste in battle

since i have alot of fun using siege equip in battle lately, i had some ideas on how to improve engeneer class in battle a bit more...
my ideas :

placeable oil pond (2 slots):
slows everything down quite a bit .. especially inf
possibly knockdown effect, when approaching to fast ?

stationary Arbaleste (like in siege (4 slots)

i dont think its too much exploitable .. and very circumstantial (particulary Arbaleste isnt easy to use)
i mostly use stakes to slowdown flank attacks .. but oil ponds would be more realistic.
obviously oil ponds may give advantage to ranged, because slow moving targets are better to hit .. thats the tactical component behind it ... on the other hand , ponds would not have the advantage (like stakes) to provide some cover ...

Would be a nice non-critical rallying point on the maps. Should be able to flame up about a 10x10 area of a hillside to flame up a group of camping ranged.

Im a bit sad that the engeneer class gets such low attention 8(
It can be really fun ... and certainly can be usefull - its about actually shaping the battlefield and supporting the team by providing cover and other areal advantages. A good engeneer can influence the outcome of a battle very well imho.
Im not talking about siege towers and catas .. thats something for strat .. my ideas aimed to be simple to implement and fun to do. Oil ponds would be just an area, that slows down, statical arbalestes are already there in siege and would just to be made placeable.

Oil ponds would make ranged camping even more powerful and easy.

1) when they are placed right
2) when the opponent is dumb enough to charge into if

1) when they are placed right

Why wouldn't they be placed right ? It's not like it's actually difficult to find the right place.

2) when the opponent is dumb enough to charge into if
;P

When the opponent is dumb enough to try and kill the enemy team in a gamemode where the goal is to kill the enemy team, exactly. You are saying this like there will always be some way around the oil pond.
