A rock is a bad comparison. Are you implying that countries do not have different cultures and policies, foreign policies in particular? Was the Soviet Union as likely to invade a neighboring country as Denmark? Did both have the same kind of perennial foreign policy? Countries definitely have certain identities, rocks do not.
no that was not at all the direction of my thoughts, therfor you maybe right that it was a bad comparison and instingated unwillingly comparisons like those mentioned of you.
I was hinting towards feelings of us humans towards a country wich in itself can be either
a) a region with a certain territory/area bound by political claims into one entity
b) georaphic discription of a landmass
considering a) and b) as defined here by me, there are by default no inherent feelings in those, there maybe feelings of people towards a) nationalistic, patriotic or in case of b) f.e. like loving the countries nature and landscape.
Within these definitions i still find it strange to have any type of hate towards a country, as i feel quite indifferent towards any country by default, what often makes me furious though are people, doesnt matter from what country ^^ though. So again for me, hating a country is like hating a rock, it doesnt make any sense to hate a thing whereby you are by default indifferent towards it.

Only if you see it in the terms of culture, i but dont and it is also not necessary to do so in my opinion.
Before the concept of "borders"(limes thanks so much romans ^^), we have had city states with uncertain borders and often we lived nomadicly, depends how far back you go. When i look at germany alone, there are roots of so many different tribes, culturally & geneticly, they themselves want to underline their different cultures therefor still see themselves also as germans, often also as europeans some even as human inhabitants of this floating ball in space. Point is, only because someone sees himself part of a certainc culture, doesnt over and afterall nessarily defines a country by that culture.
I don't say that it may not happen depending on country, but to see it that way may not be helpfull. Look at Israel/Palastine, two cultures one country/landmass, instead of finding a way to coexist within the same space, they prefer to look at their cultural differences. Please dont make any claims on who was there first *sigh* ... this game could be done till before we started counting time and the only legitimacy in the end is who has the current military strength and the willpower to go through with his claims, that then ends in war and bloodshed. Some are of the opinion that is a good thing even, as it brings new things while getting rid of old things ... but who is the judge of it what of the old or new is good or bad i wouldnt want to be that judge.
