I expected a very brutal and long grind before I was able to acquire the equipment (not even talking heirlooms) and skills to be on a relatively "level" playing field with the average player.  I think in my mind I was making it out to be much harder than it actually was.  Except for my first generation, there really hasn't been much "grind" to the game, I've enjoyed pretty much every minute of it except for maybe the first 200 deaths or so (I think I had like 220ish deaths before I got my first kill, but I was really just trying to make money at the beginning, I knew I was going to get #shrekt at first).  I had played Warband for a long time previously, so wasn't too worried about my skills as much as the equipment.

I came in expecting a multiplayer with persistent stats and items. Found that. Didn't have many other expectations beyond it.

I expected to get my ass kicked for a long time, which happened but I enjoyed it for some reason. I knew I would hate the grind though so thats why I only retired 5 times

I was expecting a balanced battle simulator since native lacked that , a simulator where actual skill matters , not how much better you can abuse something.

Guess I was wrong.

I expected horses would be able to actually trample people.
I told this story before, but I'll tell it again because it actually happened.

I remember getting my first horse -- I was sooo excited.  It was a large, well muscled beast that gave a commanding view of the battlefield.  "Now I will be king of tha battlefield, just like cavalry in real life!"  I mounted up and sprinted towards the first enemy I saw.  The hooves were thundering and my heart was racing.  I had the enemy 2h dead in my sights going at full speed -- and he was just standing there!  "LOL that noob!  I'm going to run his ass over!"  Images of shattered bones and broken bodies flashed before my imagination as I got closer and closer to my prey.  The anticipation was exhilarating!  I thought about trying to hit him with my sword as I approached, but as a new player I figured I should just start with basics and trample his ass back to the stone age.  Here it comes...!!!!

That's when he jumped in the air and swung his 2h at me.  I died in one hit and my horse ran off without me.  Needless to say I was pretty damn disappointed.

After a few more tries with similar results, I decided to speak my mind.

"Cav kind of sucks in this game, doesn't it?" I typed.
"yep" was the reply.

I liked the idea of being able to personalize my character, which to some degree is what I got, and I had hoped it would be more balanced than Native.  Yeah, not much luck with that one.

Anyone claiming cRPG is not more balanced than native should go jump off a cliff.
1H stab is the fastest, strongest and longest 1H animation. There's no reason NOT to use it in all instances. I don't know if it's OP, but it's boring. 1H used to be fun because you had a fast (left), long (right) and the most devastating attack (stab) and had to choose the best attack for each occasion.
