Someone please explain "upkeep grace period"

Although my main is gen 16 and nearly lvl 34, I've actually never played a real alt (non-STF) until now. As I'm leveling him up, I noticed I'm not paying upkeep. How does this work exactly?

-Do you start paying upkeep at lvl 25?
-Is this true for all Gen 1 new characters, or just your first one created after the patch where this grace period was introduced?
-Can you respec indefinitely to avoid paying upkeep?

as far as i know you don't pay upkeep untill lvl 25 or until you hit 10k gold stored, unless you respec then you pay upkeep

I didn't know about the 10k thing. Can you just buy stuff/transfer gold to avoid ever reaching 10k?

yeah pretty sure but you cant transfer until you are level 15 and 3 days old

You get repairs at level 25 (GEN 1), and yes, you can respec to avoid upkeep.

Didn't test after the patch though. But I think if you stay below 10 k of gold, you won't get any repair. To avoid repair, stay under 10k and under level 25. Then, transfer the gold when you are level 15 and after 3 (?) days.

There is a bug that you as long as you don't have over 10k gold, if you never crossed lvl 25 and are gen 1 you can keep respeccing and avoid paying upkeep. It works but shhhh... if people get to know this, they will start abusing it.
