Miaodao, the most OP sword in this mod

Hi! I've been playing this mod way too much to know wich sword or weapon or bow or whatever is balanced or not and I must say that this sword is the most OP sword of this mod, with level 18 of my character I could kill easiley a lot of people with it even the most armored ones with levels of 30+. Let's take a look to the stats:

As you can see the amount of weight makes this sword impossible to bounce, every hit, every swing, every attack of this sword will mean a hit for sure to something or a kill. With 42!!! cut is a deadly weapon!!! the same damage as German Poleaxe!!! wich is stupid!!! The speed!!! Ninety fucking six (96)!!!! makes fast as fucking hell!!! and the strength requirment is just ridiculous!!! 12?!?!?!? WTF!!! an agi with a build of 12/27 can rape your ass with a maximum of 2 hits!!! even if you are a fat heavy armored slow cow!!! Compared to other 2 handed swords this one beats them in all factors of speed, weight and damage and the most epic of this is that the upkeep is ridiculous compared to other underrated swords.

WTF!!! How a sword that has more weight can deal less damage?! and look at the upkeep is a lot more than that OP shit!!! and it is a worst sword compared to the Miadao!!! the damage is ridiculous compared to it, the speed is slower and the requirment of strength is higher!!! definitley doesn't worth it compared to Miadao. There are other swords like Great Sword wich is a fucking joke compared to Miadao and it still costs a lot more, has less damage, less speed, etc...!!! WTF!!


Conclussion: This sword must be balanced correctly because it is like a god sword or something, I found a a specialized chinese martial arts web page so you can check the characteristics or stats of it>

The Miao Dao (苗刀) is characterised by its long blade and long handle, often exceeding 1.2m in total.

Due to the double handed movements, the forms related to the Miao Dao are often mistaken to present techniques related to Japanese swordsmanship. In fact the resemblance between the Miao Dao and the Japanese sword (Nodachi/Tachi/Katana) techniques is the result of cultural exchanges spanning almost a thousand years. In the Tang period (618 to 907) large quantities of Chinese long swords made its way to Japan, and during the Ming period (1368 to 1644) similar amounts of Japanese swords were imported to China.

The total length is 1.4m, with a handle and blade length of 0.4m and 1m respectively. The blade is made of steel and the handle and scabbard are made from quality redwood. When held without the scabbard, it weighs about 1.2 kg.

Long sword is cheaper than Miaodao, has ALOT more speed and the obligatory OP 2h lolstab, which the miaodao has not.

I meant the Great Sword, in native the name of that sword is Long Sword.

The normal Great Sword is by far the best 2h weapon in this game, to even compare it with miaodao shows that you have no idea about 2handed weapons

Well, every dedicated 2h user will tell you that of all 2h (great) swords, the normal great sword is the best choice. Weapons like the miaodao have no lolstab (no stab whasoever) and are a good piece shorter, so how can you even compare great swords to a weapon like miaodao?

Lolstabbing swords and all other 2h weapons are like different categories of weapons.

WTF are you on about? it is a 2 handed sword so I'm in my right to compare it with other 2 handeds, I would understand your point if I would be comparing to 1 handed or polearms or other type of weps but this... please leave the thread.

Indeed, I had a character just to test this sword and saw that with a really low level you could kill perfectly any type of character in melee combat without much difficult. I got so embarassed by this sword that I sold it back and never bought it again because is like playing in GOD MODE. There was no challenge, no gameplay, just swing and kill with 1 hit and all done, that is bullshit and unrealistic and a none sense.

Don't see it much in battle but in siege, Miaodao's stats seem weird.

It's more that its stats make it well suited for heavily armored str oriented 2h players on siege, because heavy damage + decent speed.

Miaodao used to be 40 cut, but with the epic underused 2h buff (and greatsword speed nerf), it became a little too good relative to the other long 2h weapons. I don't think the stab is all that great if you have good fast and powerful sideswings. I think its old stats were quite good already and it fit a good niche of mid-speed 2h along with the two handed sword. (The bastard swords/katana definitely needed a small buff at the time, but I felt that across the board damage and speed increases were a bit too much). Then there's the poor nodachi that's pretty balanced, but weak now compared to the buffed miaodao.

Miadao's lacks of stab can be deadly against cav, or other 2hstab weapon. When there's space around.

Don't know how you can balance a weapon for just one mode (siege), without changing his uses on the other mode.


I wouldn't mind upping the STR requirements for it though, even if all "miadao abuser" should really just stack PS to make use of thoses 42 base damage.



I'm not often on siege, and when i am, i use a ballista, so don't look at me for siege balance. :S
On battle servers, though, it doesn't seem too OP.

Finally, i laughed to OP stating he could kill people at lv18, wich means the weapon is OP.
Hell, some people could kill OP at lv12 with a staff if they wanted too... doesn't mean anything about the OPness of the weapon.

The weapon just seems weird is all, the stats aren't overly broken in comparison it's just... weird. Sometimes it seems like going up against one the guy has a 270 degree cone that he can swing in and can do full damage no matter what stage the swing is going through

I'm tempted to make a 12/27 STF using a miaodao, seems like it could be a very good build
