I dont understand why they were removed from siege in the first place

yeah battle i can understand, but siege really should have ladders again

would add elements of fun for both sides by allowing the attackers have more than 1-2 ways into a castle, keeping defense on their toes by having to keep a  look out for people coming into the castle in new ways rather than just camping the same boring choke points time and time again

I think siege ladders would be fine if there was a limit on the number that could be active on the map at any point - and it would need to be low, like 2 or 3

Ladders on siege: YES
Ladders on battle: NO

On battle servers ppl are crying when they see few archers on a small hill.
Don't you remember times with roof camping? There were a constant whine about archers and x-bows, because higher position unreachable by cav was an "easy mode".
Nowdays I noticed that on some maps ladders and even some stairs were removed to not let ranged get a good position. On one map even a hill had been removed.
Archer forever :D

Ya'll got it twisted.  On siege it completely changes the map balance.  You can bypass areas that defenders were intended to hold. 

On battle I think they should be brought back, and every map should have an equipment rack that is not destructible so you can bring more ladders to get to "unreachable" places. 

Also allow siege equipment on siege/battle/duel servers

The issue with siege was that 90% of the maps were made completely disregarding the fact that ladders existed, ladders would be awesome in siege if maps were built for them, in battle they should stay away or only be used for ladderpulting though.
1H stab is the fastest, strongest and longest 1H animation. There's no reason NOT to use it in all instances. I don't know if it's OP, but it's boring. 1H used to be fun because you had a fast (left), long (right) and the most devastating attack (stab) and had to choose the best attack for each occasion.

every so often i remember this video and watch it and show it to tons of people. I like a lot of the balance changes that cRPG has seen... but i really miss when it was wackier.

Mmh, not a fan of ladders, there were so many problems with these in siege :/

I can still remember the "highways": a few good placed ladders and there was no chance for the def to hold the castle, since the whole enemy team was constantly running over them, making the approach to these ladders extremely frustratig...*shivers*

Although a ladder limit would sound reasonable, 2-3 ladders max (for attacker side)  MAY BE worth a try.

But all in all I´m strongly against it, we already had a roofmonkey period with people on unreachable rooftops :/ Nobody wanted to be defender back then, being defender was a sure sign of "fuck, def, my multi is gone now".

Issue with ladders in siege is this...

When creating a balanced siege map not intended for ladder use, the mapper creates a castle or stronghold that has multiple weak points that the offense can use to get in and get to combat, otherwise it would be a meatgrinder and be boring and imbalanced (some still have this problem).

When creating a balanced siege map INTENDED for ladder use, the mapper would create a castle or stronghold that, for the most part, DOES NOT have multiple weak points - as the ladders would accomplish this.

So, the more siege equipment players have control over, the less mappers have to artificially weaken the defenses of their castles....

But this takes a whole new set of maps to work properly (or a lot of altering to existing maps), you can't use maps intended for no ladder usage and add ladders to them at free will - the result is retardedness and no chance of defense holding, just like you can't use maps intended for ladder usage without ladders, because offense would stand no chance.

Who cares about "roof monkeys" in siege?  Also why do you have to be so racist.  Ranged on roof are not capping flags or blocking flag caps.  One shielder on the flag would be all it takes to circumvent the advantage that roof ranged have.
