Can someone explain duels to me

So for the last little bit, b4 a strat battle starts, i go to duel and run around spamming f, fighting as many fights as i could, going 40-10 30-10 etc etc each time

and in a week, im at number 36 on the dueling list, even though i didnt do hardly any ranked matches.

i just found out today how to do a ranked duel, by raising your sword B4 you press f.

i had 1680 points ( again, idk how i got them, i wasnt running around with my sword raised, i did very few actual ranked duels )

so i figured i would just do a few more tonight and get on the dueling list, now that i know how to start a ranked duel

BIG FUCKING MISTAKE...you kill nobody's you get 2 points...lose to nobodies to lose 13 points...win against decent you get 7 points...lose 13...fight a hero, get 10...not matter what you lose 13

so can someone explain to me, how 3 days+ of grinding duel but doing no ranked duels, got me 150 points and to #36

and 10 min of actual ranked duels cost 70 points and put me all the way back to #95...i went 25-5 i think...and those 5 losses cost me BIG TIME,

can you get on the dueling list without doing ranked duels?

The ranking has nothing to do with whether you win or not. The game already knows your correct position in the list, the points just change to create the idea of a dynamic experience.

No one has that many points anymore, so if you lose your points will decrease by a fair bit no matter who you fight.

After not playing any ranked duels for 4-5 months, I just checked and I only dropped to #10. Hardly anyone rank duels.

My question is: do duels have to be RANKED duels in order to get points

by doing ranked duels i go 30-10 and lose in points

by not doing ranked duels i go 30-10 and only 1-2 of those are actually ranked so i only get 4 points, but when the list is updated it seems i have moved up a bunch of spots on the list \ have more points way more point then i remember getting

Just wanted some clarification

Yep, only ranked. It takes a day for the site to update your position (but it shows your updated score).

If you search for specific people or clans, it'll tell you how many points they have for reference.

basically, atleast on EU servers most people dont play ranked duels. thats  why its easy to get on the ladder and to climb up. (if ur decent) 36 is easy to get by just playing a few rankeds here and then.
So probably people offered u ranked duels , u just didint realized. (its wrtten like this : xxx offered u a "ranked" duel)

edit: yes you only get points in ranked duels

Yeah, that's why Varadin and a few others quit in the middle of ranked duel when they're loosing, cause they don't care... :P

i personally don't care because im not good enough to be at a rank worth knowing, but alot of the really good players i know, who could easily get near the top just don't care about it. the people who do really care about it are just those who are insecure about there own abilitys, and feel they have something to prove

I believe it's still possible to offer a ranked duel, have someone accept as if they were accepting for a non ranked duel, then still end up with the duel being ranked in the end.

I can make 30-0 on duel server when only noobs are there online, should I get any points for that? The answer is no.
That's how the system works. If you defeat someone having far less points than you, you get nothing or just a few points. If you lose to a noob, you lose a lot.
You need to actually get better and defeat equal or "higher ranked" players to get to the top.

Yes. If you offer a ranked duels to someone, it does not matter how they respond, it will always become a ranked duel. The same thing goes for training duels. If you offer a training duel, it does not matter how the other guy reponds, it will always become a training duel.

1. Most people dont care about rankings, might offend some that do but its how it is. Most people only go on duel server waiting for strat. This means alot of good fighters have low ratings, fighting them will probably not help your rating.
2. If you are going 25-5 and losing points you are only winning against very low ranked players. Sorry but mathematically its the only explanation.

Not sure why are you trying to be sarcastic, i never said i don't care, i indeed care about it. Being on top of the list makes me feel good and gives me fun.
