If you ask me, naming your character Seinstein, Stalin, Lenin or freaking Jamie Lannister is silly. Both my characters are named after me. Taking some character from the book, movie or video game is lack of creativity imho. However, I do approve when people choose some less known heroes, but every time when I see characters from flavor of the month TV show running around the battlefield I do this ->

Another reason why people perceive Stalin as okay name to use and Seinstein as forbidden is the fact that Germans and Austrian denounced Seinstein, while Russians didn't do the same with Stalin.

PS. Sweden is a rich country, but only if you're rich.
What? Last I checked Sweden was one of the highest rated countries as far as equality goes.

Just came back from work, I had an irk to go read this the whole day and now I find it particularly disappointing. Still, I am in a good mood and will therefore dispense ontopic lesswrongism :

Your avatar calling obama a "communist" is retarded as fuck.  we've had the system of taxation that pays for whatever the elected officials we elect decide.  it doesn't become socialism when they spend the money on things you don't like.  It doesn't become socialism when it's the other party in office that you don't like.  You clearly don't know shit about American politics, because Democrats and Republicans are almost all corporate whores who would fuck over the people for a chance at a fat payday (and to continue giving more power to their kind).

while Russians didn't do the same with Stalin.
We did. Had anti-stalinist propaganda almost from the moment of his death, and anti-soviet propaganda since 1991(Or even earlier?).

Please explain ... WHO THE FUCK IS SEINSTEIN!?

If somebody is totally called like H I TL ER or and Stalin it shouldnt be banable, but he has to change the name, if its something like Knitler or Malin, which just sound familiar or are just black humor should be ok ...
And if somebody is called something more currently like the bride who got raped in turkey, that should be changed or that guy with the children soldiers in africa ...
