Thanks for the choices.
I guess i do have to look into "old" games once in a while.

I'll start with the more recent Shadowrun, will probably give Omerta a go.
And when i'll grow tired of guns, and want more medieval settings, time to play Celtic Tales :Balor...
Is UtopiaBOX v3 okay ptx ? What sort of DosBox do you use ?

You could also try King's Bounty. Like Might & Magic but has some RPG elements

http://store.steampowered.com/app/25900/

Heard only bad things about Omerta. Was looking forward to it but its supposed to be pretty shallow

yeah I too was looking forward to Omerta.  Son I am disappoint.

It's really old school and you have to do some things so that the graphics aren't screwy (aka so they aren't wierdly colored) but I have always really enjoyed "Gangsters: Organized Crime", it's from like 1998.  It has some issues and sometimes your gangsters are pussies, but it's a really fun game.  The co-op is pretty buggy too, even playing on a LAN after about the 5th or 6th week my bro and I's games always seemed to crash.

Some good suggestions in this thread.

Any of you knows a good tactical RPG for PC, turn-based is a plus.

If you are mostly interested in tactical take a look at Temple of Elemental Evil.
The plot and setting is quite boring (linear dungeonstomp) it has however a very good implementation of tactical tabletop DnD. With many options not usually seen. For example fighters can use positioning to protect mates or flank enemies, wizards have spells that are not fire and forget but can be turned of or targeted anew every round.

after i finisehd Omerta i did isntall Gangsters: Organized Crime" again and played it for a while but  not that extensivly as back in the 90s. Also from my perspektiv the User Interface is quite terrible, still enjoyable if you get into it.

Omerta could be much more, if you read the forum entries at the game forum you also will notice that many people expected more from it, mostly those also having played Gangster in the 90s. Better Open Wolrd Sandbox mode, with bigger maps ...

So, just finished the main story of Shadowrun Returns.

I found it pretty satisfying. I liked the dialogues, had some laugh when reading the NPC's answers.

(click to show/hide)

The battles were pretty easy though. I used 2 mercenaries till the 2 last missions, where i fully hired.
(click to show/hide)
Jazz is also pretty powerfull, even though i only used it in the last battle.
I was actually saving up money to buy awesome armor and an awesome melee weapon for my orc, but found out that there wasn't any better. Wanted to put 2k for that melee weapon, and 4k for an armor. :( Had to buy myself 2 mechanical arms to not waste money.
Found out that : When you recruit shamans, you have no idea what their totem is... You could buy extra outfits for the mercenaries with you.

I see people share their own little campaigns and such, so great play time ahead. I'll be looking for a longer one though, where i can well develop a decker/melee character.

King's bounty seems to have a nice rating. I'll give it a go.

You could play Crpg, but as a horse archer. That's basically single player

Best game.

I thought it was terrible compared to the first one.  There's no open world sandbox game mode (IIRC), and the story mission gets "impossible" after the 7th or 8th mission.

Till the last part of the buildin main campagne i was able to pretty much solo everything, but the last mission then was so much tougher and i needed to get a much earlier save game ^^

As a melee/decker character with litterally no healing spells, and no points in range combat, i don't see how i could solo all this. Buying Jazz and mediks would certainly help a lot, but i'd have to rely on my luck in dodging attacks, and my luck in doing critical hits.

As for the saves. There's no possibility to save, or is it just me ? Everytime you enter a floor, that start with smooth talking for example, you can't even save at the middle of it...
The last mission... i don't know how you can possibily solo it, since you need three regular shotguns shot, or one crit 2x and a regular one. Even a crit x1.5 and a regular shot aren't enough. You'd need at least 4 PA (one for reloading), without missing shots, just to kill one spirit. I took Arlequin and the Ghost guy, so i had three shotguns, and did all this last mission pretty fast, with only one insect being reborn. Last mercenarie was the AoE and heal mage, i really like her.

Just a shame you can't "interact" with most of the mercenaries, some sort of sidequests, and if you accomplish them, the mercenarie is available for 20% less nuyen for example. But the most important would be learning a bit more about them.

yes, imagine my frustration when i was at the end fight and wasnt able to kill them all ... repeatidly loaded but safe didnt go back far enough ... so fighted again an impossible battle ... and again and again ...

i was able to solo all but the last fight with a mixture out of decker/rifle/drone character.
