Some of us have been playing warband for over 4 years (maybe 5?), and people are still camping the "auto-loss" barn? 

Really is the epitome of this community "keep bashing your head into the wall until the dev's remove the wall, if they don't ever remove the wall,  just keep right on bashing away, you'll break through eventually"   :rolleyes:

Referring to the beta that many of us were privy to, which also had that village map, and was obvious it was the auto-loss barn when your team camped it.

Uh, attack and win? That is pretty much the scenario every time one team is majority non-melee. They almost always lose, as their melee is too few to hold back the enemy melee blob.

Really ptx, 3 melee versus 3 crossbows and 3 archers? In case you hadn't noticed, crossbows are not exactly useless in melee either and nowadays even archers can wreck you because with the current derp 1h stab those 0 slot Scottish and Broad Short Swords are actually a threat. Not that it would even come to that in this situation, in a 6 vs 3 situation the 3 melee's will be shot like stray dogs.

How long a go was this exactly? These days I am quite the old my old friend with my dec 2010 start, but I have never seen these happen.

I wasn't even talking about dealing with ranged, although I will open that can of worms.  Certainly camping an enclosed area for them to shoot into (shooting fish in a barrel) or waiting for MOTF and you have to funnel out of there seems pretty fucking dumb to me. 

You know how I deal with ranged?  The same way as everyone else, I try not to get shot.  I get behind a shield or other players.  I protect an xbow'er or an archer.  I flank them.  I try not to put myself in a bad position.  Guess what?  I still get shot sometimes.  But that's okay, I pick my big boy pants off the ground, and I pull them up and try again the next round. 

I try not to get lanced by cavalry, doing a lot of different things to mitigate the chances of that happening.  But guess what, I still get lanced sometimes.  I try not to let STR build maulers get in range to crushthrough my weapon or shield.  I do lots of different things to prevent this from happening, but sometimes I get crushthroughed and I die.  I put on my big boy pants and I deal with it.

What I was actually referring to, had nothing to do with ranged.  People have been camping the auto-loss barn since Warband beta.  And it was obvious to those of us who actually pay attention to what's going on in game, that it's a terrible strategy, and 9 times out of 10, will result in the team camping it, to lose.

I agree with PTX.  On most maps, whichever team has the better infantry horde will usually win.  Melee is what wins battles (if they have enough variety of classes, and they are using teamwork, terrain and mob mentality to their advantage).

So you are just saying that camping the barn on a map that only exists since 2011 or something has been stupid since beta, but don't actually come up with anything better ? I am impressed by your eloquence.

So you just admit that no matter how you play you will get shot even when you played perfectly and put on your big pants just like a traffic victim would put on the big pants and stop whining about being in a wheelchair because of a joyrider. Dying in melee is not a fatality, dying to projectiles is.

In the actual xp barn map that is actually old (snowy village, not this one), the team that would camp the barn and wait there patiently while the other team was trying to get them to get out would win most of the time. Teams lose when they get split up because some people do not follow the majority. Barn camping makes staying organised easy for your team and difficult for the enemy team.

I agree with PTX.  On most maps, whichever team has the better infantry horde will usually win.  Melee is what wins battles (if they have enough variety of classes, and they are using teamwork, terrain and mob mentality to their advantage).

Melee win battles when they emerge out of the melee fight considerably outnumbering the enemy ranged. When you have a melee fight and the survivors are about the same size as the remaining enemy ranged, they lose no matter how many "ranged counter" units they got.

You're wrong kafein, the team that camped the barn lost almost every time.  And I thought that was the snowy village barn. 

And including the beta for warband, it's been around for at least 4 years AFAIK.
