My point is, I'll rather play games myself than watch shows about games or follow tournaments with press coverage or watch other people streaming their gameplay. I only watch gameplay when I'm not familiar with a game and that's mostly to see how it looks, game mechanics is something I prefer to discover on my own.

Following development is another thing and I enjoy that. But that's because development is one part of gaming industry and playing games is the other. Both are very intimate in my case and I prefer direct contact with developer rather than reporter interviewing them for a show. Stuff like dev logs is what I like. Same goes for gaming experience. It's fine if I'm discussing some game with you, when we go into details and talk about stuff we know from experience. Watching totalbiscuit and angryjoe streaming their game session isn't appealing to me.

What I really want to say is that I have enough love for gaming and more than enough experience to waste my time watching people who are very much like me. Especially gamers whose fame has anything to do with World of WarCraft. Actually, it's not gaming. I don't like media and marketing in general. For me, that's completely unnecessary if you're curious person. You don't need someone else to tell you what you like, try it yourself first.

Being part of something is cool in my book (for example going to Quakecon and being part of LAN party), watching other people being part of something on youtube/twitch/whatever isn't something I like (for example watching recording from recent LoL World Tournament is Staples Center). People (gamers are people too) should focus on themselves and forget about other people who make a living by exposing their lives for everyone to see (aka celebrities).

Well to be honest I seem to share your views, because I don't really watch gameplay footage just for the sake of watching it. Usually I'm interested in what they say about a game before I buy it because from my experience I have roughly the same expectations. Hence why I also read PC Gamer or Otaku from time to time, when they don't transform into Skyrim Gamer or Odragonkuborn like they used to do every other month of 2012 anyway.

It's not the same...

I used to pirate games when I was younger but ever since Steam made it possible for me to get games for portion of full price few months after release, I embraced it fully and stopped downloading pirate games. Service they offer me is also the reason why I buy Steam games.

But you shouldn't feel bad about pirating (mostly american) games. Former community I was part of was fully NA community and they didn't care about pirating japanese anime or manga. That's piracy too but as it's foreign it's fine in their book

People download music or TV shows and don't break a sweat, but when it comes to video games or Microsoft operating system all the sudden it's a awful bad thing to do. It's the same, but MS and game publishers have implanted that idea in the media and basically brainwashed half of the internet.

It's saying I didn't vote after I click the confirmation link in the mail gmg sent me :/ (but I did vote)

Looks like you haven’t voted yet.

Thank you for your interest, however, in order to take advantage of this free game offer you need to go and vote for your favourite games in the Golden Joystick 2013 Awards.  Once you’ve done this, then you’ll be able to redeem, and activate, your free game (please allow a minimum of 24 hours from when you register your votes).

Don’t worry though, your name is on the list!

Anyone else get that? Is it here that I actually have to wait ~24h and then try the GMG page again?
