Horses right now feel like robots with gokart wheels attached to the legs, not like living creatures made of flesh and blood.
Next time you get bumped by 600-1000kg of
'flesh and blood', start thinking why your character is even able to stand up. For you-archers it is easy to say that cav is too easy and horses are 2 good because they sneak up on you, yet when you see charging cav, you keep staying in his charge-line and wait till the very last second to release the arrow into the rider. Rider gets shitload of damage because of speed bonus, but ranged guy doesn't care that he gets bumped because bump from light-medium horse is just pitiful, unless you are naked.
What people dislike in cav is that horses are barely hearable when they are behind you which causes a lot of sneak kills. On the other hand perma small lance angle , upkeep, lance stab downblockablity and different other features of lance cav made cav players adjust to the conditions and made cavalry a backstab tool.
