Allow a horse at stand still to not get stuck on one person

Question:  Why is it that whenever my horse is completely stopped, and a person is standing directly in front, I am 100% stuck?  Funk dat.

You can essentially keep a horse from moving if you stay in front of the horse's head as they try to move forward.

Just turn the horse a bit longer, dont press W instantly. You should be able to turn it enough that the infantry cant keep up to block it.

introduce horse nudge,  making the horse leap forward a bit when pressed,  same mechanic as the polearm nudge it shoves the target back.

yay!

That's not my point, and if you have one person strafing in front of your horse (as I did to someone not long ago because I normally am on the other side of the reins) I was able to keep a teammates horse from moving for about 5 or 6 seconds.  A horse, could not get past a person standing in front of it. If you have two people, it makes it even easier to block the horse.  A horse should not be blocked in because a person in standing in front of it.  A horse that weighs about 4 or 5 times as much as a person.

That's a problem.

ctrl+J for horse nudge? :P

As for the OP suggestion, I wouldn't be against it. You generally have enough time to dehorse someone if you manage to stop them (with a polearm or if they crash), without having to rely on blocking them in with bodies. And I can see how it would be annoying.

Adjust the horse-rearing command so that when you rear your horse and it kicks it's legs up in the front it acts like a nudge and any person caught in front of the horse will suffer a short knockdown. Make it so that the radius isn't long enough to knock down someone using a pike or long spear who just reared you, but long enough to knock down a dickhead 2h standing in your way.

It still doesn't make sense that horses can't push people away.

I am okay with this.. cuz hooray for realism.

But it should not be implemented (well... not like anything from this area of the forums is ever implemented anyways) until after the horse's hitbox is fixed. Right now a charging horse will bump you and therefore stun u or knock u down waaaayyy before even its head collides with ur body. And realistically speaking, horses dont charge u with their head anyways... they knock you over/trample ur sorry ass with their chests/bodies. It's so annoying when u time a swing perfectly at a passing by cav only to get bumped before u fully swing and then get killed by a tiny little 1hander in one hit.

Yeah I'm not even asking for it to knock the person down, don't even care if it stuns the person...just don't want my half ton horse being blocked by someone who weighed no more than 1/4 of the horses weight.  They already can't strafe on the ground (as horses can do, they aren't motorcycles), and it takes quite a while to turn.  This doesn't really happen too often, but when it does, it's a free death for the horse because by the time I try to turn left or right (and pray the person is too stoopid to realize they can just stay in front of the horses head and I'm boned), I'm likely going to be one horse less than I was before.

What we need is a "Out of my way"- button.

You press it while riding and your character screams "OUT OF MY WAY, PEASANTS!" and your horse gets a massive burst of speed straight forward. You can't turn while it does the charge, but it knocks away anyone in your way.

I'd use it at spawn every round, all rounds.
This game isn't about being skillful as much as its about saying things in general chat that enrage people who then go to murder you but in their rage they make dumb mistakes which gets them killed.

If you guys are looking for more realism then don't forget the massive fall damage when your mount gets killed while riding at speed.

100% agree ... it is so silly, when the horse gets blocked in by a dude just standing infront of it.

Sometimes if terrain is not flat, you do not get enough speed to knockdown and instead the horse goes to a complete stop.

The light horses are bred to be agile and fast..not charging. you have to specially train a horse to do that.
Should be possible to knockover several people with the larger warhorses. (maybe no dmg, but still knockdown)

Polearms should get  bonus like axes have on shield (bonusdmg versus horses) and no rearing.
Instastopping horses at full gallop ..mid-air in a jump with a pointy stick for surekill seconds later... very frustrating.
