It's been too long since I have played an Actual D&D tabletop game. I have been playing a bit with Arty and the other Dracul Nerds and it is fun.
Although, I just like the complexity of an actual D&D game (Not the mention the world)
The only thing that makes me a little sad is why you do not have 2nd Edition AD&D on your list.
I know it is fairly simple, but it is my favorite for that reason.
I am not fairly reliable due to my ever-changing schedule. Although, I do wish I could play alone with you guys
That was actually the first system I ever played in, but man, that was so long ago I've completely forgotten it.
I have never played something like this but would like to give it a try.
So how would it work out timewise??
like one long day or a couple of hours a day for some weekends or ....
or is it roundbased, so everyone can do his thing whenever he finds the time during the day??
I don't think we've actually discussed that yet, so here are our options.
A) use a virtual tabletop + teamspeak...each player will take turns talking about what they're doing and respond accordingly. They'll move character pieces on the map as needed.
B) Use Teamspeak with dice and just talk about it. For less tactical systems, this works.
C) use text and dice...each player writes a paragraph or so. This allows you to write something, go check on something you're doing irl, then come back. If you're semi-free all day, but still have minor stuff to do around the house, it's nice.
D) use a
multi-user-shared-hallucination type thing. Kinda complicated for those unfamiliar with text based environments online.
Option A is most similar to the traditional way these games are played- with a bunch of people sitting around a table with an erasable map, dice, and figurines/lego pieces/stones/coins/whatever. These sessions typically take three to five hours.
