Merc Reputation fails

PS: Though I'd like Mercs to be an elitist clan again, it's always nice to have diversity in clans beyond just nationality. Having a small(er) clan made up of only the cream of the crop of c-rpg would add a little thrill to clan warfare in my opinion !

Except for one tiny detail: there's no such thing as elitism after 3 years of this mod so this "cream-of-the-crop" scenario is more or less impossible.

Varadin gives it the bigman, but last time I saw him join EU1 I killed him 3 rounds running without him getting a hit off, he immedietly quit again. Its perspective: your build is a very gimpy one, designed for duels, even if you dont admit that or didnt plan it. You have a full loomset, and I beat you with a piece of wood in my peasant outfit: because your playstyle is easynuts for me to kill you. Likewise you make others rage who you can easily beat. If everytime I found someone who has gimped their build so that they are an easy to kill to my build, I came here and posted about how they raged, I would be  a dickhead like you. Dont forget that you play the easiest way, and inb4 every hero is like "Neg man its all skill", its not, its piss easy and I do it too on one character and to deny that its easymode is to lie to yourself. Jackiechan is a hero btw, uses shitty builds for duels, still agrees to duel you because he is a bossman.

That's absolutely true, unfortunately. However we can get close to it, firstly by not having average players in Mercs. I can beat in duel the vast majority of Mercs in melee, and I think that an elitist clan's members should be a challenge at all times, unless the Merc's objectives have changed that is

it depends on what you class as skill. there are many mercs who do great in battle but not so amazing in duels

It doesn't matter if you can or can't beat any of em in duels, the overall level of skill is completely different then in the first year of the mod. In 2010 you couldn't have beaten most of the old Mercs simply because they started playing earlier then yourself and they figured out the game's mechanics plus they had more then enough "training" and got used to stuff while it was all pretty new for you. These day's it's impossible to say who is average and who is not (those few new players aside) because most of the regular players are around here long enough to be able to cope with each other on a regular basis, anyone can beat anyone, they can be a hero who kills 10+ people and wins rounds for his team and the next round he gets headshot in the first 30 seconds or just gets killed by the first guy who comes along, it doesn't work the same way as it used to. Why do you think so many "heroes" don't play anymore or they play undercover ? They don't like the fact they can't be "heroes" anymore.
