How to win any battle against AI on Normal as Rome (don't worry, the AI will never field an army like the one in the scenario)

Step 1: Recruit 19 Hastati or better.
(click to show/hide)

Step 2: Deploy, don't really bother with how you do it.
(click to show/hide)

Step 3: March forward and attack.
(click to show/hide)

Step 4: Blob
(click to show/hide)
(click to show/hide)
(click to show/hide)
(click to show/hide)

Step 5: Win
(click to show/hide)

Any variations to this tactic will probably improve the results. Have fun playing the game, guys!

I don't really get the logic behind "it's shit so (I) pirate it". That's like going to the supermarket to steal some chocolate chip cookies you loathe.
Even if you are making up something about "punishing" them the message you give them is this:
Everyone loves those cookies. But we need to invest more into protection.

Your analogy would be more apt if it was cake that we do like, and the frosting was sold separately.

You're not quite the heavy weight you think you are when it comes to logic, I'd recommend you post cat pictures until you get better at the internet.

Yeah, I bet there'd be great outrage if a cake was sold with multiple optional icings. I've heard there's even cars nowadays with optional components for extra charge. How can that even be.
In the end it is very simple. You can decide yourself what DLCs you'd want and calculate how high the total price is.
The best you can say then that it's overpriced but you'd still want to have it. Oh, I can understand pirating it then, but don't go into a fury about how righteous you are. And that's still ignoring you can get it on a steam sale sooner or later and it's only because you want it right now.
Besides you'd be one of the few who think it's good.

well don't I feel retarded now.

I bought a copy but am now torrenting a pirate copy. why?
a) to play DLC which I didnt get even tho I pre-ordered.
b) because cannot play over actual lan with legit copy. see here

unlike everyone else I do actually like this game and think it has great potential. however considering the state it released in, really have no idea why I bought it at release, when I could just purate and wait until price drops and bugs are fixed.

So let me get this straight. Im not the only one who noticed that the AI never really wields a even halfdescent army on the campaignmap? Shiiieeet. And all this time I thought it was me, cause I played on medium now and it was still supereasy.

Ofcourse I wouldnt be as mean as Frank thou. Going totally berserker on a game has a point when the devs go greedy and lazy. In Rome 2s case, im quessing they just made a lot of shit decisions that seemed good on paper + other retarded bugs happened.

My personal guess is that rather the publisher SEGA is to blame for the unfinished state of the game than the developer.

Discussing design decisions is a complete different thing. I've read a comment on the CA forum which made a pretty good cut between bugs/glitches (which happen to every game), design decisions and full-blown fuck ups like the AI (:D).
I think Rome 2 can be a very good Total War game IF they keep working on it. That is the frustrating part tho. I haven't paid full price luckily but still I am very disappointed that the game I was awaiting wasn't delievered even closely. It's the disappointment that weighs on everyone, I guess.

makes me wonder if beta-testing actually exists, especially considering some games. [looking at you dark souls]

Who remember times, where games had really FREE content? The Elder Scrolls Morrowind for example. Back then in the 90ties, and in the beginning of XXI century, games had mod support. Now, there is hardly any mod support, because why let people mess with games, create stuff, and release it for free? When developers can do the same thing, and then charge for it!

Also the DLshits. There are people that digg deep in the files, and DLshits are often there. You pay for something that you already have.

Battlefield 4 is not yet released, but 5 DLshits are already announced, and they even know what will be the content.

I keep buying less, and less games, and I believe that one day, I will just stop playing. I often go bak to the old games.. somehow they give so much pleasure, unlike todays mass production a'la Call of Duty.

I myself oppose DLshits, have not bought any, and if we ever want to change something, the words, have to be followed by the deeds.
+100% for being "racist retard". You rather be safe racist in your country, than dead French bundle of sticks under the truck wheels, blown to pieces by a bomb, or shot in your own country, by so called "refugees". Lewak logic. Youll all die, sooner or later :). Enemy of my enemy, is my friend. Muslims will deal with you, go use the power of crayons do defend yourself.

Maps, and pay to own guns, rather than unlock them. Mostly aesthetic stuff, save for the maps. What they did for 3...

I hate how they just take out good components / extra missions out of a game and put them as DLCs ....

I was right! I WAS FUCKING RIGHT! HA! And I missed the most important part, "they will pull a TW Empire."

Bunch mongoloid bafoons.

----

Boy did I fucking call this. I just wish I had done it publicly on youtube, and got a million hits so I could dance around with a "I FUCKING TOLD YOU DO" T Shirt on.

I went to a buddies house 3 days after release and by turn 50 had spain balls deep in swarthy Italian types, and Greece completely wrecked.

CA has made a habit of releasing with terrible AI. I would play a game with Rome 1 graphics if it had amazing AI. Why don't they get that.

I they are beholden to their marketing gods but ffs, stand up and protest it just makes them looks like cowards and cunts.

-------

If you want to see the future of gaming. It's shit like Star Citizen - no marketing depart, just peeps making games for other peeps that want to play said game and are willing to bank roll it. It's got huge holes and isn't accessible to all but it's a start, it's something and even if it doesn't become the dominant model if it can just show the fuck stained taint wanks that they are wrong, so fucking wrong then it's a win.

procedere as usual: grab an unofficial copy (base Rome II and Greek States DLC are available and work great with the first two patches, well "great" for a total war game of usual bugginess...), play for some time, decide if it is worth keeping, then buy or not.

So far I am not impressed (mostly because AI sucks and graphics are poorly programmed and put insane strain on the computer for little result), keep playing it here and there, but until now I prefer Medieval II with several mods. (which I purchased btw - after several months).

So not going to purchase this until it shows up on gog.com at a decent price (which it never will, because they love their "antipiracy stuff" at CA, LOL). Or when some really stunning mods show up. Middle Earth on Rome II engine might be worth it.

P.S.: oh, and YES, fucking hate that DLC policy as well that most game publishers have adopted. Good to see that a few - like the Witcher guys - take a different approach. Happily churned out some money for both of them Witcher games. Just hoping Witcher 3 does not get even more "console-like"...
