Dearest cRPG staff, scumnerds, and lowly sperglords,

I was banned sometime in late August (probably the 24th) for multiaccounting in Strategus. I do not deny that I am the owner of two CD keys, or that both are heroes in Strategus. This is my essay. Justice.

STORY

I've played cRPG for over two years and have been invisible for most of this time. Only recently did I learn about Strategus battles, factions, and the marketplace. Once I discovered these things, I felt that I had missed out on a great deal. This, in combination with my ever shrinking gold value and poorly executed respecs, urged me to create a new account. The steam summer sale rolled around and Warband was on sale for $10. I was quick to make a new steam account, buy the game, and start fresh in cRPG. I made my new account, "palurgee," and started to experience cRPG as it was meant to be experienced.

I joined the Frisian Freedom and in a matter of months I had reached Generation 4, the same generation my account of two years was on. Thanks to the clan leader (sandy) and helpful clan members (apollo, rip in peace) I learned how to trade. Soon I had an army of nearly eight hundred men with a thousand destriers exploring the great cities, looking for deals. However, I started to feel that I was a bit too obligated to duty. I said my farewells to Frisia and began my career as a freelance trader and mercenary. This went fine and well, but one day, I felt separated. On the dusty roads of southern Calradia I made the decision that I should switch back to my original account. Why I made this decision I cannot say. Perhaps it was because I felt scrutiny from my former clanmates. Perhaps it was because I wanted to make my own path in Strategus rather than follow the paths provided to me. Perhaps it was because "brokeback_mountaineer" is an awesome damn name. And so, I transferred my looms through the marketplace and used my new knowledge of cRPG to shape brokeback_mountaineer into the player I truly wanted to be.

I joined Friends with Benefits. I fought as a mercenary in an innumerable amount of strategus battles. I sought deals in the marketplace. And, after so many months of bewilderment, I got my army out of the cliff next to New Dhirim. I was paving my way to being a truly successful cRPG player. One day, while looking at the Upcoming Battles page, I saw a familiar name. Palurgee -- named Strelet at the time -- had been attacked in Strategus! I hadn't been paying much attention to the affairs of my other account. I recall the intention to sell the crates I was carrying and then return the horses and silver that was lended to me by Frisia. It was a hopeless battle, but I figured I may as well make the best of it. I applied for the battle on my first account and then accepted myself on my second account. Just as predicted, the battle was over in less than five minutes, a humiliating defeat on my side. However, I didn't really care; it was a loose end that was now tied off. I returned to my first account and continued my life as a trader. I reached level 32 for the first time ever, retired, and got to generation 5.

Reality called and I had to journey deep into the dark unknown of Canada. I checked the cRPG site on my phone to discover that I was globally banned. When I asked why, I learned that I was banned for multiaccounting in Strategus.

I love this mod. It is to Warband as DayZ is to ArmA II. This mod has probably occupied as much of my time as DotA 2 and Warcraft III have combined, and that's saying something. Please know that I completely respect your decision to ban me. I now know how easily one can abuse owning two accounts. I stress that I would never want to do anything that would harm this mod, and if I am unbanned, you will never see anything unsavory from me again. I'm very sorry for what I did and I am prepared to accept any amount of time as detention, and that one of my accounts will remain permanently banned.

This is a motherfucker that doesn't need to stay banned. I caught a global ban for a much more heinous (although still relatively innocent, I was a naiive nerdling) incident of account-sharing in which FIDLGB members handed Rhalzo their passwords. None of our bans were permanent and we're all living crime-free nerd-lives now.

Palurgee is a great fella that won't do silly shit like this again. He didn't even benefit from what he did; it wasn't nefarious or malicious. He just didn't put much thought to it.

Has my vote for unban, he did not step on anyone's toes or hurt anyone when all this went down he just unknowingly mutli-accounted. And in my opinion those are what really matters!

Obvious reasons on Strat that involve either Farming or being in two places at once.

Because the system of getting advantages over others just because you payed more money is flawed. And wrong. And it's cheating.

If people where allowed to multiaccount there would be so many troops generated by 1 single clan you would never be able to contest that clan for anything, except if you did it aswell.

I wouldn't say it is too much of a stretch to believe that Palurgee didn't realize he was breaking the rules. Palurgee got banned more on principal rather than malicious intent, if his story checked out he really didn't do anything that gave himself an advantage against other strategus users. For that reason I think he should be unbanned, atleast on one account, to prevent it from accidentally happening in the future.

Palurgee is a good citizen in the cRPG community, he deserves justice.
