Haha I did fail to notice that...I just assumed it was a parody of the real flat earth society...my bad.

Let that be a lesson to you. You shouldn't ASSume.

Well that's not entirely true, I didn't totally assume, I also did some googling, but my results were referring to a website that was spelled slightly different.

Assuming only makes an ass out of u and me. Just thought I'd throw that down there. Anyways, why can't the earth be a triangle?

It actually IS a triangle, the spatial distortion around it just makes it act like a globe.

Spatial distortion can change a 2D object into a 3D object

Your concept of dimensions is interesting and helpful, but wrong. There is only 1 spatial dimension. Even if you think you go "upwards" or "sideways", you really only go forward at a different offset in the single dimension than if you actually went "forward" in your 3d world.

This sounds like intellectual panic.

This sounds like the lazy response of an individual unwilling to use its brain.

Actually I did and my various interpretations of your seemingly random collection of words all ended up in nonsense, and in any case never going to make spatial distortions transform a triangle into a sphere, because those are mathematical objects, that is they are defined one in R^2 and the other in R^3.

Well, let's see. Your R dimensions are: arbitrarily large and arbitrarily granular. I agree that it's not possible to map several such dimensions to a single one without reduction of accuracy. However, what if nature is actually not arbitrarily granular and arbitrarily large (hint: it isn't).

We got hints suggesting that space in nature may not be infinitely granular, although that only can be said because we know there will never be any way to measure a distance below a certain threshold (Planck's lenght). However this doesn't mean 3D space can be arranged in a grid and countable.

No it can't, because it can still extend arbitrarily wide in 3 dimensions. If it can.

Anyway, for practical matters, neither granularity nor size of a dimension can be arbitrarily large, which means that those two problems don't exist. Just choose a lower granularity limit and a max size and you can remap it all to one dimension.
