Unsere Mütter Unsere Väter, also known as Generation War to the yanks who always seem to rename foreign movie titles. For those who are interested in WW2, esspecially if you are interested in the Germans then his is a great series for you. There's three 90 minute episodes that follow five german friends from '41 to '45.  This series has been named "The German Band of Brothers", It is in German but you can get English subtitles.

I would post a link to download a good quality torrent with English subs but I'm not sure if I'm allowed or not so you'll have to google it yourselves.

Except for some Polish hardliners being butthurt because according to them "the Polish Resistance never ever killed any Jew or left them to die."

From what I understand, it's pretty close to reality and historical "mostly" accurate. I encourage everyone to watch it. I liked it all around very much, especially for the, at times disturbing, shown development of the main characters, one in particular.

Yeah some Poles and Russians got all pissy because the show represented a lot of Eastern Europe as Anti Semitic.

Also I watched it in German and I thought it was epic. Why you being so mad and downvoting everyone Miwiw?

I just watched all 3 episodes in a row.

It is a good dramapiece.
I really liked that it is in german,creates the right athmosphere.
(Had to use english subtitles, my german is not the best)

I sort of liked that they toned down the combat, attrocities and general gore.
It is used to drive the story, and at the same time not leaving out or beautifying what really happend.
Those that want to see that part, the "real" Östfront can see other depictions of it.
The main focus here is the human story,capturing the zeitgeist.

Apart from a few silly plotlines, I enjoyed this miniseries.

Well, watching dubbed movies is kind of lame... I shiver in disgust, thinking of the days when i was watching Die Hard and Terminator in Russian. How are you supposed to translate "Hasta La Vista baby", "Yippee ki-yay, motherfucker!" or "I'll be back"?... It is beyond retarded to even try That's my opinion anyway...

I remember there was some serious drama in here about this, supposedly they didn't idealize Poles enough what triggered a lot of rage. Potato obsession about nationality ftw.

Poles often deny to acknowledge that we weren't saints during the war and that there was strong antisemitism in Poland pre-war and during it in resistance troops. Not comparable in terms of scale to Germans and for different reasons, but still, it did happen.

Same as most other countries at the time, including the US, where racism was rampant, not only against Jews but against blacks and especially Asians, their enemy in the Pacific. I remember a quote from Patton, talking about how blacks would never be able to learn to drive tanks.
