Why don't you stick to games like Sid Meier's Pirates! or Counter-strike 1.6 (or hell I think people still play the superior 1.5 version).  Or you could play something like Gangsters: Organized Crime (great game) or some other late 90s/early 2000s games.

Don't use WSE2 it's not forced...yet! I don't play in wse2 no problems on my end. Get the scary mod with the low res texture pack if you wanna use wse2. http://forum.meleegaming.com/general-discussion/scary-mod-(for-native-crpg-v0-241)-crpg-optimization/

My old gpu died ~ last April i think, i played with my internal graphic card for ~1 month and a half, it was impossible to get decent fps playing with wse2 (dx9), so i played with dx7 without wse2.   With a low screen resolution and all details set to minimum it was playable.
