Which instrument do you play?

i play whatever i can get my hands on. main instrument is drums but i also play guitar (pretty good but for some reason i never practice barre chords ><) and piano (mostly for quick ref when cooking music). i sold me drums since i cant have them here in apartment (want some roland vr drums). at some point i owned a yamaha cs1x synth but ive sold that too and i totally regret it. only instrument i have apart from my music software (cant live without it!!) is a spanish guitar that i rape daily and she is called Heidi

I play the wii drums on guitar hero xd

But i'm actually quite good at it, can play every song on pro and some even on pro+ =O
And really thinking about buying an actual drumset and learn it for real.

you should try out rock band or rocksmith those are more true imo but well whatever floats your boat i guess... these "games" will never ever be the same as playing a real instrument.

this guy can play drums idd but he didnt get it from playing the games. i guess they are good for practicing and keeping fit :p

I play guitar, have been taking it quite seriously the past year, playing 3-5 hours a day. Definitely reaching a workable level now and I am aiming at getting in or forming a band once I find a room in the city where I study. Starting singing lessons in a few weeks as well. Sadly I am having a lot of trouble writing songs, any seasoned musicians here that have awesome advice?

Don't want to sound like an asshole, but if you can't do barre chords you're not pretty good at guitar.

Also, cello is fucking beast, I really wish my parents were richmy old friends and would've bought me a violin or cello. Maybe one day when I am a rich my old friend, cello and rock music go together well if you ask me.

to me, right hand is more important when playing guitar i want to learn flamenco or similar rhythm but its hard and i never learn it :x barre is good for electric but i dont play electric.

Real rockers don't do well at Rock Band. It isn't the same as playing instruments, not even the drums. I've seen others play and do just as poorly.

I can do that song without any mistakes until double bass ruins everything because the pedals don't really react good.

Well, when i started playing this game i never thought i'd even get close to expert (or pro+, whatever) and now i can do so many songs on it without screwing up regularly, so it definitely had to be of some use =D
I'm aware that real drums will be a whole different thing, but i need to try them first, hehe.

well i cba lol i dont find it usefull enough i guess if i played cover songs and stuff i would need it but i dont play songs i just improvise and jam for myself i find that alot more fun to me, music is about playing and having fun and thats it.

besides... theres worlds of difference between electric and spanish lol have you REALLY tried barre on a spanish? :p

how much barre is this guy using? not much and he only use it cus 1. the sound of that barre comparred to the normal or 2. he is lazy

oh not to mention (he use barre as well yes but notice when he isnt)

my point is: barre isnt everything. its like saying using a pick is the only way to play electric
but to get back to the rockgames... i hate... wtf is the english word i forgot... the word for ♫♪ lol in danish its "noder" anyway i dont like them i dont like that you are sorta forcing yourself to play something exactly the same way every single time. thats not music!!! imo music should be heard and felt, not read cus music is more black (afro) than white.
