after reading this thread i was wondering if there is a source where you can look the complete weapon stats up (including info on secondary modes, swing directions, wheter you can use it with shield or not in case of polearms)
i am playing a secondary char with polearms and am looking through all the options to find one that suits my needs and am a bit lost. is there one that can be used as support like a pike, has the option to be put on back/goes with shield/has 4 directions so you arent completely fucked when you play 1v1. i currently use the bamboo spear but 2 attack directions are quite hard in any 1v1 situation.

so basically i would like the option of shield against missiles, have long range to support and possibly be swappable/4 attack directions for 1v1 fights

Dont forget that you chose the single weapon group that has the ability to rear horses- an invaluable feature. The double sided lance doesnt have it.
I use a mw bec de corbin, when much cav is around I also take a spear with me. Keep a longspear in your invemtory, its a very good support weapon and is needed sometimes.

Like the other people already said, you can do nothing wrong going with the Glaive or Bec de Corbin.
Glaive, great reach, good dmg; Bec, quite fast, perfect for crushing (spam  8-)) tincans.

But, if you only want to play with 4-directional polearms, I would rather go with 2h.
I recommend you to try out the other polearms, there are so many unique ones which are really fun to play with.
I hope you die IRL. What kind of fucking build is that?!

Poleaxes are pretty good at everything, although the price kinda makes up for it. Thrusts, swings, speed, power, shieldbreaking, knockdown. Here's some of my favorite specialized polearms:

Long Bardiche - Unlike the long great bardiche, it is not unabalanced. That's a huge bonus. 140 reach and 45 shieldbreaking cut damage swings make it better than any actual axe in the polearm tree of items. I really like the model too.

Long Maul: Longest crushthrough weapon in the game. Overheads feel like something between a halberd/bill and a maul. It's wonderful to use only overheads (not spamming, but saving the swing for when it counts) with a good ally to fight alongside. The weight will give you plenty of knockdowns if you go for side swings.

Long Hafted Blade: A faster glaive. Unique model that looks great with eastern armors. It's like a reverse warspear: stronger swings, weaker thrust.

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far

You know what I never understood?

Why the regular hafted blade doesnt have a secondary mode, which would do pierce damage. The side that isnt used right now looks like it could be able to pierce.

I don't think the weapon is designed to be used that way.

No, it's not sharp.
Even double sided lance doesn't have the secondary mode, which would make sence if it did.

That is like asking why you cant spin a scimitar around and use the point on it, lol.

Stats for Double Sided Lance (Primary):

weapon length: 130
weight: 1.8
difficulty: 10
speed rating: 93
weapon length: 130
thrust damage: 32 pierce
swing damage: 20 blunt
slots: 2
Couchable

Stats for Double Sided Lance (Secondary):

weapon length: 130
weight: 1.8
difficulty: 10
speed rating: 93
weapon length: 130
thrust damage: 32 pierce
swing damage: 20 blunt
slots: 2
Couchable

Is that what you want?

Poleaxe- for all round effectiveness, the jack of all trades polearm

Bec- high damage against plated targets and the perfect anti-gank weapon

Long Maul- you would never be that guy, its a lot harder to use than many other polearms, but when used well it is deadly. (you have to play with it for a while to get used to the speed).

Choose what you like and play with it. Polearm is versatility and you have a lot of options to choose.
