Ill attempt to have a good one while Im figuring out which one to loom out of the several I like. Good suggestion though well thought out, gave me some really valuable advice which ill probably forget or not care about.

Are you looking for a 1 direction, 2 direction, or 4 direction polearm?

Im looking for a 4 direction polearm.

Long Bardiche is terrifying; used one for like 5 gens. Breaks shields in 3-4 swing, huge reach, and one-shots many people.

War Spear/Spear/Red Tassel/etc for OP sideswing spam.

Long Bardiche is fucking awesome but the Great Long Bardiche is shit imo, unless you are used to unbalanced weapons. Try using a Long Hafted Blade or something with knockdown, always good for new polearm players.

Bec de corbin
It's a good choice when you play siege a lot. In narrow corners and hallways, you won't get stuck too often with the Bec. I personally do not like it though, it's a bit weird to forsee when the hit will "connect", i.e. deal its damage or be blocked. The timing on this weapon is very strange, but on the other hand, that's a unique selling proposition. Try it yourself, it is a matter of taste.

The Long War Axe is one of my favorites among the polearms. It has the bonus against shield thingy, is not unbalanced (unlike the Great Long Bardiche) and it is less mainstream than the Great Long Axe. It also connects faster, so you hit earlier than with the Great Long Axe and the enemy does not have that much time to block.

The Glaive is another badass alternative. It looks very dangerous, and it is. Fallen_Wayyyne has been using it for a while, and STR_Nockeyboard. Both scared me as hell, I had no chance against them. They are good players and picked the Glaive, a wepaon that's very disgusting to fight against. You have a hard time blocking things and not getting stunned, and the worst part is that the Glaive seems to be a weapon that is sometimes even faster than your onehander or twohander. If I played polearm, I'd go for Glaive.

The Long Hafted Blade - regardless of the stats - feels like a mixture between Bec and Glaive whenever I pick it up from the ground. Longer than the Bec, shorter than the Glaive. This weapon also connects pretty early and is a solid alternative to both.

The Long Hafted Spiked Mace is your weapon of choice if you want to make people fall on the ground and hit them (knockdown). The blunt damage also penetrates armors very well.

Slower and more powerful with crushthrough instead? Long Maul.

If it has to be a spear, I'd recommend the double sided lance. Fast as hell, it surprisingly has 4 attack directions, which confuses lots of enemies. The pierce damage kicks ass.

I hope that helps!

Thanks alot! Im trying to stay away from the Great Long Maul because I don't wanna be "That Guy", I think ill go for the double sided lance, glaive, or the bec; both seem like pretty good polearms. I've seen Gallonigher use the bec and Ill just say, the blunt side completely wrecks.

Sure, don't mention it. Gl hf, and if you need more advice, keep asking. Most beginners don't use the forum, but you do and that's good. This way, people can give you some hints whenever needed.

As a side note the War Spear trumps the Double Sided Lance in pretty much every scenario (unless you want a short couchable weapon or something).

You get the ability to horse-rear (141+ length). You also gain +2 Speed and +20 Length. You only give up 4 pierce for it. It's also cheaper, to boot.

I used a MW War Spear for a while back when I was polearm and loved it. Very dangerous weapon to fight against.

I would also recommend any of the poleaxes, glaive, long hafted blade, any 2D polearm, long bardiche, hafted blade. Others are a bit more specialized or feel a bit different, but for the most part there will be some sort of polearm you enjoy.

My favorite 4 directional polearms would be (in this order, and based on how much they cost versus how "good" they are):

Long Bardiche
Long Hafted Knobbed Mace
Long Axe
Long War Axe (much better than Great Long Axe)

bec's are nice in strategus and for going up against tin cans, but the high cut of these "axes" I listed above are just fine for NA1 (IMO).

I've left poleaxes off the list due to the cost to own and upkeep them, but all of the poleaxes are beast weapons, and probably would be my favorite if not for the high cost of ownership.

Poleaxe (not German or Elagant) is the best.

+ Fairly long range
+ Bonus Against shields
+ Good stab and swing (unlike spears or Elegant poleaxe)
+ Not unbalanced (stat)
- Slower than the shorter polearms (length makes very well up for this.)

Also heirlooming weapons that use either pierce or blunt damage gives a relatively better buff than cut based weapons.
