How to stop internet lag spikes (Need help) Windows 7

My old comp is in an attic. I got 30 fps out of it at most, even with dx7 and all gfx reduced but I used wired internet and never had any lag spike problems so it was fine for me.

Im using a laptop: Dell Intel Core i5 CPU M 520 @ 2.40ghz,
                            4.0GB RAM
                            ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330

They just upgraded to fibre optics too but using a wireless connection and im getting 60 fps.

Would a closed door give me these lag spikes I'm getting?

Im getting a lower ping than I used to on my old comp (around 40-50 on eu1) but it can jump to as high as 500+ and it can happen every minute or so.

It doesnt always happen though.

I've already trawled the web for help (im about to do this again after I finish this post) and have tried the following:

WLAN Optimizer (to turn background scan off/streaming mode on)
Deleting all other networks Win7 can find
Going into regedit and adding new Dwords (TcpAckFrequency and TCPNoDelay)
Also going into regedit and trying something else to do with MCSS - cant remember exactly.

I used to have some horrible lag spike every minute or so on xp (my old comp) but I fixed that by disabling Windows Wireless Zero Polling - this current problem is a lot harder for me to fix so any help is appreciated.

Maybe borrow a repeater to improve the signal strength, dunno, maybe it helps
Sacrum Romanum Imperium

Yeah, well you know, that's just like, your opinion, man.

I dont have lag spikes. Are you the only one using the wired internet?
What router are you using?

It's a wireless laptop im using now - my old comp was wired but I cant use it right now.

Router? Umm 1sec while I try to find out - Echolife HG612?

Maybe borrow a repeater to improve the signal strength, dunno, maybe it helps

Ur assuming I know what a repeater is and that there's one in my neighbourhood =(

Most people would blame the wireless. Since it's usually the cause.

But anyhow. I am not experience with that type of model you are using.

But minor questions :
Do you use alot of other wireless things near your computer or the router?
i.e wireless mouses, keyboards, headsets, etcetera.
Do you maybe even have a TV receiver or similar close? Or other equipment that uses wireless?

Because wireless equipment tend to intercept each others signals, thus making them a bit slower, and in worst cases not work at all.

But. If you try using wired? Put a wire in your route and to your computer.
If you can that is.

So can you check if the lag spikes disappears. If it does then it's obviously the wireless/router and not the internet itself.

WLAN optimizer if you are on wireless, it essentially stops windows from searching for other connections, which causes most spikes ive seen

Troll complete. It is offensive to me and I would like you to change it.
If it is not changed I will do everything in my power to see you banned from both the game and forums.
