Spartacus Legends

So the other day i dusted off the ol' xbox and started her up, scrolled through endless waves of shit and clicked on some random ad because it was screaming "FREE!".  Found this lil gem tucked away which gave me about 20hrs of gameplay so far.

Anyways you are the owner of a single slave that you wish to make fight to the death for the glory of your house and of course to make money of of.  You will of course be the one doing the fighting, similar to any other fighter game(tekken, mortal kombat, etc whatever), with the exception of weapons being used.  Each slave may use a different form of fighting like say sword n board, 2h, or a polearm.  There is also a level of customization, though small, in purchasing weapons, armor and various upgrades.  As you level up through the ranks the bouts become more fierce with the crowds want for blood, eventually you will lose a fight, and when you do, if the crowd is pumped up enough, the fighter will perform a brutal execution, slaughtering your character and forever killing him(yes perma-death).  The game seems quite balanced in various play styles whether you plan on being light of foot, or armored from head to toe.  The Bosses are also brutally hard, slaughtering many of my gladiators in seconds.

For the downside, when i started up the multiplayer after a few quick matches, my first few matches were against Mexicans.  No im serious, literally Mexicans, i chatted with the fellow who told me he was playing from Mexico and that he loved the game.  Of course my ping however did not love it, and of course as luck would have it, i continued playing every Mexican in Central America for about 12 games straight.  Eventually i played a guy from the east coast and found out the game had some issues with lag in multiplayer not associated to the distance of the two of us(from Maryland).  The other downside to this game was that with it being free, they of course needed to make money some how, which came from microtransactions.  You can buy gladiators, early access to gear, or room for more slaves.

In the end i would recommend the game to friends if atleast to entertain you for a bit, as it did me.  If you do try it, let me know what you thought of it, as i enjoyed it.  my score 7/10

So TL;DR
Gladiator fighting game
class variations (sword n shield, 2h, hammer, daggers, fists, polearm, duel wielding swords, etc)
gear customization (Armor, light, heavy)
Perks
Stamina Bar
Perma-death
Blood, lots of blood everywhere.

I played it, gave it a spin

As someone who doesn't normally enjoy fighting games, I was having a blast with this one, of course I can't remember combos, I just mash the buttons

While I enjoy the occasional super difficult game, I think this game is unbalanced difficult, now I never got to the super high end game ish levels, but i think the polearms, dual daggers, and maybe 2h hammer are OP.

Polearms not only have that insane reach, but also seemed insanely too fast, even faster than my dual daggers in very light armor.

Daggers are just really fast, once you swing frist you basically shutdown the enemy

Hammers do a lot of dmg, ok maybe this isn't OP but it was annoying as hell

It's so easy to just get stunlocked and shutdown. Leaving you constantly stuck while your enemy just wasted you. No longer stunned? Too bad! Stunned again!

I haven't played multiplayer, but so far this game is starting to get unfair frustrating
You are a horrible human being clockwork.

If i ever get muted on forums, contact me on crpg.net

i think that is just normal for fighting games, they frustrate the hell out of me, and when i get frustrated i play horribly, and have to put it away before i play worse or throw a controller.

The main problem is it's console-only. I told my brother to give it a go as he really only plays consoles, but I really don't like playing them so I don't think I'll ever touch it.
I'm rock, nerf paper, scissors is fine. Welcome to c-RPG.

well i figured most pc gamers prolly had an xbox/ps3 considering they have been out for like 10 years now, and most pc gamers prolly started on consoles and graduated to pc's.

well atleast tell me if he likes it. lol

Well I do own both, and that is actually my exact case. You are spot on with that assumption lol. But idk, after switching to PC gaming I don't really like playing consoles much haha. I only really ever play them if there's some title that's supposed to be really good that's not on PC. As of late that's only been The Last Of Us haha.

I'll let you know what he thinks of it, and I may try it out sometime, maybe when someone is using my computer or something, appreciate the heads up!

I wouldn't have known about this if not for this thread, thank you antiblitz. I'm downloading it right now and I'll post back what I think. I'm usually not a fan of this genre, soulcalibur IV was especially aggravating, but free is always fun :D

I actually played it a bit not too long ago, pretty fun. Though it can get frustrating at times. But I can't complain, it's free after all.

lol not even comparable.  This is solely a fighting game, similar to like a soul caliber, or mortal kombat.  Then there is a character progression and item store to purchase gear at.  But there isnt skill points like in Colosseum.

i still protest against fool notion of developers that fighting games cannot be played on pc.
like, everyone has a fucking controller these days...
Tseng: Used to the bitter taste of refusal, this only serves to reinforce his greatest life lession yet.
Cloud: And that is?
Tseng: Bitches, man.
