The kite shields position is wrong in this game and mod, why is holded like this?
(click to show/hide)
or this?

This way is wrong and it looks very weird ingame :^| so it should be fixed and changed to this animation, more realistic one and it would look properly

The passive pose looks a little strange but oh well, I don't care how it looks. In fact I've never noticed it before.

im quessing that than it wouldnt be so confusing. If you held your shield passively realistically and not blocking with it, it would be wierd when the enemy straight hits trough it. At least now how it is currently it would be less wierd. Honestly never really bothered anybody before.

It bugs me, but I rarely use those shields. Probably because it bothers me to see it all the time.

If the animation was changed, would it change the area where you shield can passively block? Like how arrows sometimes hit your shield when you aren't holding right click, you know?

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far

Yes, which is why it is a major no.

It is realistic. At least for heater/pavise type of shields. It is like that because the whole forearm is strapped to the shield. if you want to rest your arm you just let it hang freely, and unless you unstrap it the shield will turn like in game.

The significant weight of the shield wouldn't allow your arm to rest in the same position as when nothing is strapped on it.

It would. It's just a weight put on your forearm, which pulls it down.

What Kafein means is, that the shield is much heavier at the lower end than on the upper end. Which means it's highly unrealistic that your arm, which is some kind of pendulum in this case, would keep the lower, heavier end higher than the front end, even if the shield is stripped to your arm. Before this happens your ellbow would bend, and the shield would probably hang down rather horizontally, I guess.
Joker makes a very good point.

Those shields wheren't as heavy as all that, and the metal 'boss' is usually on the upper half. I dont think pavises where strapped to the forearm though.

I'm not a game designer or whatever but fixing this wouldnt be a hard job (tell me if Im mistaken) because it is just a little movement of the shield to the right position.

Keep in mind that top of a heater/kite shield is wider, and therefore heavier. Still I got to admit, the angle does seem a bit over the top in Warband :P

The easiest fix is to create custom shield idle animation I think
