Admin's and DTV

Today before I went to work, I got to play my first 3 matches of dtv with some of the TS boys and ecko. He mentioned the rules right off the bat and the games where fun.

It got me thinking now while I'm working that, maybe, every clan have 1 member an admin for the dtv server, and able to reserve an hour or two a week for clan play.

This being said ransoms can join unless the team is full etc

The other issue is ecko mentioned that an admin has to be constantly watching and might leave him/her from playing on another server with thier buds.

That said if an clan granted admin let's his group abuse the set rules, he/she would be banned for helping exploit and be responsible for the teams actions, giving admins who might want to go elsewhere, time to take a break, but the ability to pop in and check up on the dtv guys whenever.

Again, it was good fun playing with you guys. Kryser is one of the funniest motherfuckers I ever met btw. Cheesy Biscuits.

Impossibru, the players will always find ways to exploit.

Not if you make a map where there are no ledges to exploit on, no ladders to camp under, etc.
And of course disabling the construction side to prevent building stuff to block the npcs.
Don't mind the fish.

I've heard a lot about this game mode, but mostly that it is fun and easy to exploit. How does it work?

I've heard a lot about this game mode, but mostly that it is fun and easy to exploit. How does it work?

Operation:
Everyone is on the same team, your objective is to kill bots, failure to do so (as in everyone dies) results in starting at stagezero again.
Currently the game mode operates at one third XP and Gold due to how easy it is to have a X5 multiplier.
Defeating a wave of bots (one wave per stage, spawns a few seconds after the players do and greatly outnumbers the players) results in a win, and thus an increase in your multiplier as well as the next wave being "harder to beat" more or less.

Glitches:

A player spawning on a horse will lag the server and crash the majority of players due to Horses coutnign as bots (and overstacking the bot AI manager, server, and toodlywinks thus you basically made it think itself to death). Solution: Do not spawn with a horse, or you ruin the game and will be kicked/banned.

A player dying in the first few seconds (either from a TK or a Suicide or even spawning, then exiting the server) will glitch the bots to never spawn. Solution:  Have another player die to "reset" and start a new round, though this will increase the multiplier as if you had properly won it (do NOT abuse this, or you will be kicked/banned). You may need to TK people for several rounds in order for it to properly fix itself, so when a new round starts, wait 15 seconds for the bots to spawn, otherwise you will need to "sacrifice" another player and hope the next round fixes itself.
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.

Yeah, the people always said, that they play for the fun, but everytime when i was on a dtv server i have seen a lot of attempts to "trick" the AI.

Anyway it is a bit like singleplayer battles. A horde of npc spawns and tries to zerg you.
Your task is to kill them all.

Yeah right now, Ecko, Panderson or myself has to be present for players to play DTV on the NA servers, it might be something to consider.....we just need people we can trust so 250 accounts dont get frozen again :)

No. The bug is already fixed in test versions, but we decided to disable cavalry completely because it does not fit well into the game mode.

Bleh, please to not remind me of that.

I do hope that in the future, we can avoid another 250 person freeze.

Perhaps you need to poll for new Admins? You should know the player base well enough that you should easily have a list ready of people that are appropriate.

How did you disable this? Is this a new toggle for the admin panels, or is it hard coded in (A forced un-equip). Either way thank you, some people spawned with a horse on accident, not noticing that a server was not running a normal mode but was DTV, or simply did not know what a DTV was.

you mean basically m&b's ai is very strong when your on foot but much easier when on mount. I noticed this is singleplayer. can only play on difficult settings if i'm cav and have to put it on ultra easy mode if I want to be a footman.

No, what we mean is that using a horse causes a crash for the AI, not a lesser challenge (though i agree with that too that it is easier to outsmart AI when mounted, but that is not the issue for DTV).

AI will still use horses, the crash was just a coding mistake that was easily fixed.
