Other than not "experiencing glitches" what am I missing out on not having WSE2 installed yet? Is there some advantage to having it, or is the only point to having it now to  prevent having to install it in the future?

If you have a good rig and can run Warband on DX9, then you should definitely try WSE2. It optimizes the game a lot more, at least for me. I used to get a lot of stuttering sometimes, and, ever since I started using it, my framerate is stable - no more fps drops.

It also provides many new options in the menus, including Post-Process filter, FXAA and a better audio system.

careless alt-tabbing, greatly improved sound (distance and direction of horses!), better Graphics, key-bindings (drop shield, rear horse, dismount, etc.), extended FOV (if you like), scale font on the fly...

In general many minor improvements that combined make the game a lot better.
