My best experience with mushrooms was tripping on the 4th of July around 2002 or 2003. We started out around Noon or so (didn't eat anything late the night before and nothing to eat in the morning). Each of us had an 1/8th of caps and stems (want to have both) and we each had about a gallon of orange juice to chug. The best thing to do is to take it one cap or stem at a time, and try to chew/grind it up on the outside of your teeth so that as little as possible hits your tongue (it grows on shit, and tastes just like what I imagine shit tastes like). And swallow it down with a healthy dose of OJ.
After about an hour you start feeling the effects very heavily. Everyone is different but usually you'll see some sort of visual stimuli, but I've never had visuals on LSD, only on Mushrooms (and only when I've taken 1/8th and lots of OJ). Of the 4 of us tripping, one of our buddies had a bad trip and was basically throwing up most of the day and didn't feel very well (luckily he had a pretty lady to take care of him). We were tripping at his house and it was a "safe" environment (i.e. we didn't have anywhere to go, nobody would be coming home to get us in trouble).
For me the experience was pretty awesome, I only recall some of the day, but here's what I remember:
The first thing I noticed visually was when my friend's brother pulled up to his house with one of his friends and was picking up some things and going to leave, but was hanging around for about 15 minutes in the driveway while we were sitting towards the edge of the garage. As we were all bullshitting away I noticed the sky started changing colors from blue to green to purple to orange and all shades of the rainbow. It was hard to maintain my composure, but I'm pretty sure he just thought we started drinking early. After he left I went back inside the house and upstairs for some water or something. I then got "lost" in my own little world up there. A lot of inanimate objects seemed to be "breathing" or alive. The one thing that stuck out to me was the lamp shade (it was one of those lined ones that taper off at the top or bottom and stick out), it looked just like it was breathing.
The back yard was pretty intense as well, the grass seemed to grow at an alarming rate, and before I knew it I was in "elephant" grass 10 feet high. And I had a nice experience back there as well.
We decided to get up on the roof to watch the fireworks in the evening (the visual tripping had already worn off, and the rest of the night basically felt the same as an LSD trip, aka no visuals, but still very tripped out). We all climbed up onto the roof with a ladder and I decided I had to piss. So I walked over to the edge and started pissing off the house, apparently I wasn't concerned with being right on the edge of the house because my buddy says "I don't want to alarm you, but your very close to the edge". I looked down and my toes were hanging over the edge of the roof so I leaned back into the roof and shimmied up a little ways. That was really dangerous and could have been a bad accident, so you really need to be careful if you're ever tripping. The fireworks were cool and colorful, but not a lot of memories there.
The only other thing I really remember was watching Star Ship Troopers that night (I hadn't really ever watched the full movie before) and it was probably one of the most intense experiences I've ever had. It felt like I was right there in the movie and when people were getting ripped apart by the alien insects it really impacted me and made me want vengeance.
