Spawned with only 100 gold

I spawned in for the first time tonight and I only have 100 gold. Now it is my understanding that you start with 1000. Has this ever happened to anyone else or is it just me. Any help would have been nice. Also if i could get help getting that 900 gold back that would be nice. If needed I can provide a scrren cap.

Must be more goods you carried - i gave my gold to the traders, havent touched a single trade good until now, i leave that to the serfs!
