I've seen lots of protestors vs. police clashes here in Istanbul and especially in Taksim (where all these protest are happening right now) but all of them were just a single group that acting on their own political benefit. But this is the first time that people from other districts of Istanbul, no matter what is their political view are trying to reach Taksim to help protestors who are still resisting since yesterday, 05 am.

And media.
There are only 3 channels broadcasting about this protest. Mainstream media, which is controlled by rich people who is working for Erdogan's party, does not even broadcasting live while Reuters and some another Norwegian channel does. Think about you can't watch what is happening 15 km's next to you. This is the situation right now.

Protestors take refugee in some military places but not barracks, some local military houses.

No, not tied to this protest specifically, the cold war between the theocratic civilian government and the secular military started much earlier.

This is just the latest step of gutting all the positive things that Ataturk put into the political system (I am not a fan of Ataturk to say the least, but even I can recognize he dragged Turkey kicking and screaming into the modern world).

This riot have NO CONNECTION with Turkish Military. What the private on the picture did was invidiual. Also some of the military houses helped the protesters by keeping them inside until the tear gas effect passed, but that is all.

These protest are all about civilians who get enough of AKP's democratic dictatorship.
