I mean, if there were no bonus to being a large clan there would be no point in letting anyone banner leech. That there is a point to letting people banner leech -> having a large clan puts you at an advantage -> having a large clan puts other at a disadvantage -> large clans affect the balance of the game.

Fault's probably with the team balancing algorithm imo, not with the large clans. Team balancing is hell to get right though ...

What makes you think there is even 20 active members in Mercs, Byz or Deserters? Have you ever seen 20 of them in one server?

I have seen about 25 on at the same time of both Byzantium and Mercs. That is when teamspeak becomes incomprehensible though. What is most staggering though is the number of Mercs at unholy hours. Playing 20 vs 20 at noon, 9 Mercs on one team, x1 whoop whoop. 

The reason I play in a clan is to hang out on teamspeak while I play, and playing with people that are with you on teamspeak. Now I admit, Byzantium is a pretty friggin huge clan now, but yet half the time when you play there is no one playing or just 2 or 3. If you join a clan of 15 people, then you are going to be sitting alone in the teamspeak the majority of the time, then what is the point if joining a clan? I completely understand why people like to join a clan that is visibly active.

I just hope they get rid of the multiplier soon so that playing as a clan stops causing so much frustration.

I don't believe any large clans intentionally mass recruit in order to unbalance servers or anything. They simply have no reason to deny people from playing with them, and players want to be part of big clans and fight on the side of their heroes.

Main reason was Inactivity, i would be playing by myself mostly, or with steeve and bobby

It would be a lot nicer to see a few more smaller clans. I would like to see a few people from each clan break off and make smaller clans with each other, although there is no actual NEED for anyone to do that- it would simply be nice to see

Why does every Merc, Deserter and Byz here want to underestimate the amount of active players in their clans?

Anyway you can't blame people if they want to join in a big clan, cause there are quite a few clans that provide some company to play with most of the day. Only thing that I wondered was when half the Nords left for Byzantium, but that's not my business.

What does it matter if you play with you main or alt if you play with your clans banner? Also I think theres only one char/member in the member count.

   Basically we got tired of all the strat bullshit (most of us even got tired of cRPG overall), so players that still play this mod and that aren't, let's say, part of the "core" from old Sea Raiders/VRN, obviously started to leave and get an active faction. Some failed to realize we're a multi-gaming community, not cRPG only.
When they looked for a faction, instantly popped up the Byz/GO/HRE/Fallen/Mercs holy pentacle, being either Byz the best choice for Battle players and either GO or HRE for siege oriented players.

I for one, still play this crap, 4 alts and a main, I even got invited to several of these factions, but simply cba. I like my nord brothers too much.

I'd rather be a lone wolf if nordmen ceased to exist as the community it is.
