"simpel Question"

Well since i cant find a satisfiyng answer in the interwebz i just ask here since we got so many Islamic educated peopel in here..

Why excatly Moslems arent allowed too eat pork?

I heard that many peopel in the arabaic world(countrys) not even follow this "rule".
But since someone asked this question too me and i couldnt find an answer and decided too stop eating meat i got an interest in what is so special about pigs.
I know the DNA is quite close too the DNA of Humans and they ment too be intellegent Animals if they not got too live in the western Industrial Meat machine.
Also their are some Legends? about pigs were humans once upon a time.(like Odysseus  Saga for exampel)

any worthfull Input that is not stupid Spam?

Crob: i'm in duel tryin to not be shit

I am not a muslim, this is me guessing.

Pigs are considered "haram" (forbidden/dirty), it says so in islamic texts koran or haddith.
Since its in the book, well then its a rule if you follow the book.

Why? not sure.

It might have been practical, undercooked pigsmeat might contain a  parasitic disease Trichinosis, nasty stuff.
unlike other sources of meat that was available.
(might argue that there was not many pigs/boars roaming around in the desert)

Pigs anatomy and inner workings resembles humans close enough to swap some parts with.
But the DNA is not that much closer to humans than a snail or a bird. we share 99% .. with some interesting parts in the 1% differing.

I am not sure either, but I thought it had to do with the fact that pigs will eat anything they can find, and in desertic areas, where food is scarce, they might feed on whatever they can find, which might be in advanced states of decomposition or maybe even human corpses.

Also, don't they require quite a bit of water? This would be a problem where water is scarce.

I think I read somewhere there was a very practical healthcare reason. Pig meat could easily give you nasty diseases in hot weather.

They have no wood in the desert to make fires, so they can't cook meat. This means pig meat is out of the question. Only camel and goat meat matches their own DNA enough to be consumed raw.

But you will find lots of muslims ignoring a great deal of rules.

Consumption of alcohol, use of intoxicants.
Regarding alcohol, its has been made unlawfully in stages. Because we believe that the Qur'an was revealed and the prophethood of the prophet (peace and blessing be upon him) also lasted 23 years.
So in the early years you would still find muslims drinking alcohol and pray while intoxicated, off course thats unheard of today.

You would also find muslims who do this and ignore that and appear a hypocrit, like people holding themselve above some one else. Or people who read the Qur'an, read a certain verse and go kill people in broad daylight in the streets of London. Ofcourse that isnt justified, they just have a lack of proper knowledge, imo.

Is pork really that much more "dangerous" than other meats ? It has the best taste anyway.

Quote
But even if we did not know about the harmful effects of eating pork, this would not change our belief that it is haraam in the slightest, or weaken our resolve to abstain from it. You know that when Adam (peace be upon him) was expelled from the Garden, it was because he ate from the tree from which Allaah forbade him to eat. We do not know anything about that tree, and Adam did not need to enquire into the reason why it was forbidden to eat from it. Rather it was sufficient for him, as it is sufficient for us and for every believer, to know that Allaah has forbidden it.

Then you go around talking about having an open mind

Well the point is eventually that we hear and we obey.

But that goes all back to believing in 1; God 2; His revelations 3;His messengers.
These 3 are part of the 6 articles of faith. But then you might as well just ask why you believe in God, well those stories are long and everyone has his own personal reasons.
My reason, i dont think it is actually that crazy that there is an ultimate something behind everything, and there are a lot of agnostic people or people who do believe in some ultimate creator something.

Once you start reading the Qur'an, it seems very unlikely that it is man made, because of its style and it would never fit to the motives of a man. Once you truly believe that this is the truth and it actually is a message from the ultimate creator thing to its subjects, then you choose from free will to submit to it, and that is islam, that is definition of muslim. So you dont question why not to eat pork.

Everyone is free to believe in what he wants eventually.

I remember this video, explains islam in one hour

Cholesterol is not per se harmful, it's an old myth, it's only a problem for people with heart diseases.

Pigs are only a carrier of the diseases you mentioned. If you have a clean pigsty and don't feed them crap, they aren't "unclean" and their meat can be eaten without problems. Of course, it's not really possible to meet the hygiene standards that are necessary for this in most countries where Islam is the dominant religion.

I just read that worms thing and I ate a piece of slightly undercooked baby back ribs yesterday, I'm wishing I hadn't read that now.
And how!

Yeah Pork is a nasty thing if not cooked correctly.

I personally love me some ribs, bacon and sausage, but as a "cut" of meat that you cook over a flame, pork is pretty far down on the list for me.

I thought it was just because they considered pigs as dirty animals that devour anything, including dead people.

You probably need to find out why jews don't eat pork, as the islam(same for christianity) is heavily influenced by judaism. Early christians didn't eat pork as well.
