go to your steam library, right click on MB warband, go to properties, go to updates, "do not automatically update this game"

Well it usally takes 3 months for chadz to be arsed to act when something like this happens so you might wanna go download the old version http://www.taleworlds.com/ use it the none steam way an reinstall crpg an go have some fun 

Steam users can also download the 1.143 client, activate it with their CD key, and put the launcher in there.  This, of course, assumes you have space and bandwidth you don't mind parting with (though the space is minimal, and the bandwidth useage time isn't much.

Might wanna make an announcement an use this solution so cRPG dont die while we wait for a patch

i think this happened before and the solution was changing a line in the module.ini that just told crpg which version to be compatible with....anyone remember this?

I think it wont be to wise solution with WSE and all... Just saying... We didn't have WSE last time I guess..

It tests checksum of warband executable (at least it says so).
If thats happening, you should use an older mb_warband.exe.
But in that case, maybe it's really easier just downloading the standalone client
from taleworlds' site.
Anyway, I cease playing until these lazy bastards fix this issue
