Ashwood Pike

I think it would be nice to either bring the length down to 160 or bellow and giving it 4 directional attacks or adding a bit more length and maybe decreasing speed or damage slightly? so it can be included in the 'pike' category more. It's a lovely weapon but length and with it only having 2 attack directions put me off it, I only really see it used as a hoplite weapon.

It currently fulfills a comfortable role of high-damage, medium-length polearm.  There are other weapons that perform what you are asking.  Everything has a role.

Double sided lance covers the bottom end, Bamboo spear, long spear and pike will the top. This is right where it needs to be.

It's honestly very good as a two directional weapon, hard to use properly, but if you pull it off it is amazing. I recently rolled a 12/27 ashwood pike on my stf, and it's the only build I can really be bothered playing. So much fun and very effective if you manage to not get shot. As a hoplite weapon it is too strong, I don't see any reason whatsoever to use a different spear than the ashwood, I think the damage should be reduced by 1 or 2.

maybe I just need to practice with it more.  :|
I was only thinking like 170 length. Just seeing glaive with 160 length and 4 directions seems a bit unfair with the ashwood only having 6 more length. Like I said it could just be me being unskilled.
Going off topic a bit, but what would you think is a good ashwood build? 12/27 sounds fun but only 12 strength seems a bit low to me? would 15/24 or 18/21 work? or maybe even 21/18?

This.

Damage on spears shouldn't go up with length as otherwise there is no trade-off for the increased reach

Ashwood is good as it is. There are longer spears with less damage (like bamboo) and shorter spears with more damage (double sided).
Fitting best for hoplite does not mean it is too strong. Bamboo spear with shield is too strong against cavs, and shorter spears are much more effective when you want some 1v1.

agreed. But it is a pike, can Awlpike's be used with a shield? or is that because they are too heavy?

Ashwood pike is an amazing weapon even without a shield. In fact it is too powerful with a shield. Like awlpike before it, it is a strong enough weapon to be used legitimately on it's own and too strong with a shield.

Awlpikes can't be used with a shield because they are so unbalanced, front and back. You'd need wrists of steel.
For the glory of DuPrix!

Ingame evidence suggests we have that
