NWN1 is one of the best games evar made. Too bad they had to rape the name by making another crappy WoW clone.
Meaning lies as much
in the mind of the reader
as in the Haiku.

Been playing it a lot this week. Combat is actually not like most MMOs. It's a little more twitched base. Although it's a bit subtle, it really does mirror 4E D&D in more than just name. People THINK it's a WoW clone, but classes really don't play that way. A Cleric is not a WoW healer, and a Guardian Fighter is not a WoW tank. If you try to play them that way, you will get fucked up. If you play your class the way you would in the pen and paper game, you'll probably do really well. Lucky for me, Cleric and Fighter were my most played classes.

My biggest criticism for the game is how limiting the classes are. They've taken the broad 4E classes and put them into very narrow scopes. In the pen and paper, Guardian and Great Weapon Fighter would both be the same class, and still would not represent even half of what the Fighter class is capable of. I'm not fond of their decision to make these different build options into completely different classes, but it does work for the game.

It's fun! Give it a chance. Get at least to level 30-35ish. Let yourself experience a wide array of powers.

If you're like me and don't want to lose any progress, wait a month untill it releases. There will be a wipe.

EDIT: This is incorrect.

My apologies, you are right. In the extended FAQ, they said this:

Quote
Will there be a character wipe before Headstart begins?

Yes.

I misunderstood and thought the Headstart was after the open beta. But the headstart was 25 april.
Guess I can level up freely now.

NWN is still a good game that translated D&D 3.5 very well.

the only thing that is potentially interesting about this game is the whole Foundry dealio. It allows players to create their own dungeons that other players can then play, it seems pretty cool and some of them are really good.

This just basically means you will likely never run out of content to play, which is the problem I have with most MMOs.

But of course it all still hinges on whether the game is actually enjoyable to play or not, if it is shit more content won't necessarily help.

There are old sellswords and bold sellswords, but there are no old, bold sellswords.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Role-playing_game

Neverwinter nights persistent worlds are pretty much only proper role playing games online. Storytelling.
