What the fuck happened? It showed history and other simply cool shows. Now 80% of the time it shows this "Ancient aliens" and "UFO hunters" bullcrap where some assholes speak this  nonsensical farfetched bullshit of how every single thing in life is and always was aliens. Put everybody in those shows in a bloody looneyhouse and start showing history again damn it, or atleast something interesting.....

Obvious alien is obvious.

You do them circles on the corn fields, build pyramids, mess with presidential elections, and now trying to hide the truth from common folks on CRPG forum?! Oh no you don't!

I especially call bullshit at when those morons say that angel drawings represented flying aliens. That "ancient men where not stupid, they drawed what they saw, but couldnt explain". Seriuslly, if man drawed what he saw, than why hasnt any of these scrolls or drawings shown a flying saucer or something. Ancient age people must have been pretty fucking stupid and blind if they saw a flying saucer, a completely white, naked and hairless tall motherfuckers with gigantic heads and to show others what they saw they fucking drawed bearded dudes with birdwings and white tunics. Seems pretty legit to me!

I always found it irksome. To many American documentaries dramatising absolutely everything with minimal historical content and an annoyingly accented narrator to boot.

I kinda like Pawn stars and those restorationshows. Thou yea, they are way over dramatised and overacted, they still have quite a bit entertainmentvalue imo. And Discovery has something with Morgan Freeman....oh God, fucking awesome. Speak more mr Freeman. Even if you spoke crap I would buy your every word.

I don't know I never found the entertainment value. I always find that history documentaries that try to show you the history with re-enactment just look stupid. Too many times I've seen 'battle' scenes with blurry whizzy around camera and crappy battle sounds to disguise the fact they just went to their nearest reenactors group and asked them to pretend to hit each other with swords. If I wanted to watch battle scenes I'd watch Gladiator, Alexander ect ect. The same can be said of pretty much every form of it in any documentary. The low budget just ruins the actual historical fact part. I'd rather listen to someone talking at me with a little enthusiasm than that.

It's why I prefer British documentaries. They tend to focus more on telling you stuff than dramatisation. Except for a few recent experiments by the BBC that didn't go down terribly well.

And on that note I'd suggest a series called 'Coast' that explores the history of Britain by travelling along the extensive coastline. They focus on the facts and the history and visit people who still practice certain techniques and traditions. But there's no dramatisation or anything because it's not needed. Their enthusiasm for the subjects they cover is all that's needed. Neil Oliver, the main presenter, is absolutely fantastic.

Welcome to 10 years ago.  History International still played some history programs up til a few years ago, but I haven't had cable in a few years (can't justify paying for it when I would hardly ever watch tv, can get my fix from netflix and torrents)

Discovery channel has been doing this more and more over the years as well.

Nat Geo is probably one of my more preferred channels for non-fiction

masturbating while looking in a mirror isnt wrong unless its the rear view mirror and you are driving a school buss.

I can agree, however in defense of Pawn Stars, they do focus on older historical type items and the guys like to explain the history behind them.
