Should be a throwing item called "Rope" which you can use to tether your shield-sled to the back of a horse.

Make it so that board shields let you sled with a buddy, and if you have two bucklers, you can ice-skate unpowered.

I love this, finally a realistic suggestion that will improve the authentic feel of the game. How about improving it further, by allowing spearmen to pole-jump?
