Long axe vs Great long axe vs Long war Axe

I heard yesterday from a long time Axe fanatic that a Great long Axe is the best (due to having way more damage compared to the others, but its slow - nothing a higher agi build can't fix).

A long war axe appearently is better than a long axe as the long axe glaces a lot and is shorter, the long war axe does have way less damage then the great axe.

So if I can conclude, a long axe is worthless?

What are you opinions: Does one glance more than another? Are both the long (war) axes too low of damage to be any good?

Long Axe is definitely not worthless. The extreme speed, coupled with a very solid damage makes it a great weapon, much like a longsword, in fact.

Well that was another thing, blunt is better appearently for thrust damage then cut? (plus i think 16 blunt gives the same damage as 20 cut)...

Long War Axe is superior to the Great Long Axe, and I'd even prefer the Long Axe over the GLA.  94 speed for LWA, 97 speed for LA and only 91 speed on GLA...

123 length versus 125 is negligible, and when you're over 30 cut damage, I would give up 3 cut damage for 3 speed any day of the week.  I don't see how any can justify using the GLA over the LWA, it's an obvious choice to me.

I see LA is only 12 strength...and still does 41 cut, I'm thinking a 12/27 char (1 IF, 4 PS, 9 Ath, 9 WM, 181 polearms WPF) might be a really fun build to try out (would be fast and still do a decent amount of damage from the base damage of the long axe)

All three are OP because the animations skip frames, with the visible effect of hitting before the weapon model collides with its target. Also speed doesn't matter to a GLA because of the epic hiltslashing you'll be doing all the time with 45c.

GLA was reworked couple of times long ago, to the point where the long war axe became the better choice

I like the long axe. I used it occasionally when I felt like going polearm. The immense speed, with somewhat okay range, damage and sheildbreaking makes it damn able weapon. However, for oblivious reasons its not as able on taking on cav as well as its cousins. But then again the speed enables you to spam lot more efficiently than with others. They are pretty situational weapons imo.

I think they are relatively balanced with each other, just pick one and get used to its range and speed. If I had to pick one based on stats, it would probably be Great Long Axe just because I generally prefer damage and reach over speed when its only a few points. But I would use Long War Axe because its cheaper and similar to GLA. Long Axe is just too short imo

Still would rather use Long Bardiche because of damage and length. The speed is good enough imo

I've been saying this for such a long time and nobody believed me. I've always had a lot of trouble blocking these weapons (probably harder for me due to relatively high ping).

OP: Long Axe is extremely fast now. And the GLA isn't as great as the name says, if you ask me.

The GLA is my favourite. I think length and damage is worth more than speed. It's also the best looking axe imo.
