Is the game still shit? Are they even working on it or did they settle with the money theyve already made and just chugging piss coffee at their desks not really working on any valuable changes? Will the game ever have decent zombies etc?

I never played the game, ive seen a lot of it though, it has one of the best concepts/most potential out there atm, but it has too many issues for me to bother with yet.

If you didn't purchase DayZ yet, my advice is don't purchase it. Wait for a year or two (or even more), if it ever gets decent enough to warrant a purchase. They are working on it, but considering how much money they got, extremely slow. I'm putting my hopes on other games though, H1Z1 looks promising, for example. And as said, arma will always be arma.

Then do check the new version, it's quite different and prettier. I think it has just as much or even more content already than the legacy Rust (the old version).

Its an absolute disgrace. Dayz mod is still miles ahead of standalone. They didnt even fix the most basic issues and bugs. With this rate of updates i wouldnt recommend buying it, ever.

Played it on new patch .50 today. It's their best patch in 4 months.

Now this isn't all that's been changed but it's everything I think is worth any notice

Loot spawns have been fixed! Finding weapons like I used to back in the mod, with magazines/ammo ready to go!
Zombies don't see 1400 meters, zombies don't hear whispers from 1400 meters
Can no longer fall through buildings and become stuck
*This has been fixed for a long time now, but people still use it as an excuse*: Zombies have not been able to walk through physics in 2 patches.
Heat and Cold no longer flash every 2 seconds bottom left corner, and is no longer the biggest danger in the game.
All actions but drinking from well/pond are now instantly cancel-able.
Farming is now possible
Doors can be locked/unlocked with a lockpick. *really only useful vs newspawns without weapons, or players who don't want to give their positions away by shooting the door/melee'ing it.
Door opening closing sounds have been around, but they got tweaked to be much more audible and recognizable.
1h movement animations are changed, look great.
Search for polishing stones near rivers to help keep your melee weapons sharp
Search for Feathers around chicken coops to make arrows for silent kills with your ashwood bow.
And for clothing, all sorts of new stuff from headwear to footwear. New waterproof backpacks too!
Repairing leather and plastic clothing now possible! Leather sowing kits and Duct tape!
Melee weapons no longer randomly switch from rapid 'panic clicking'

IMO: Only unfortunate part of the patch is that they took the ability to put the burlap sack over your own head and use it as spooky headwear

All in all it's as good an experience as you make it. Get a group together, and actually do something beyond the usual, which is server hopping for gear and moving towards NWAF, and you might have some fun.

0.50 is pretty good, and it's fun to play for a while. The progress is still disappointingly slow, and one wonders what they're spending all their time with when all the really necessary stuff they get for free from ArmA. Weren't they supposed to have vehicles by June, as well?

Given it a go for the last 45 mins or so.

Still not optimised very well.
Collision detection on zombies is still shit.
Randomly died when 100% fine(1/3 lives)

Gunna give it one more life...

For now though, I'd say the Breaking Point Arma 3 mod is roughly 10x better... I think its made by one guy too.

Those Arma 3 mods are definitely comparable. "Better" is subjective. I still prefer DayZ because the Arma 3 mods I've seen give too much stuff too quickly, so death loses its meaning. But yeah, it's pretty amazing that 1-guy mods can compete with DayZ SA...

Gave it a go last night. Seems to be running much more smoothly for me, even came across an increased number of zombies on the server I was on. Some improvements here and there but going to be a long time before it's playable regularly.

Yo, if any of you guys want to hang out in DayZ add Tagora on steam.  Right now I'm near Svetlo getting supplies and whatever.  Going to head towards the middle of the map to try and find a nice piece of land to set up at.  I'm really not interested in getting military items/being a bandit/whatever.  I've done that too much already so I'm trying to think of something different to do once I find a base of operations.  Maybe do something completely sadistic and dress up as an axe murderer and kidnap unsuspecting players and bring them back to my lair.  That sort of thing.

-Both Yellow and Blue wells should work now, Yellow well is now a child class of the blue well. Code shows no difference between them yet.
-When you have a crafting torch in hand, you can scroll wheel on a tree and get an "Add Resin" prompt.
-Can't search for berries/apples/feathers/kindling/stone/set snaretrap with an item in hand anymore. Kuru class renamed to BrainDisease.

So me and Iza broke DayZ the other day.

Walked into a police station, the entire building flashed, went invisible then re-spawned with every single item that is possible to spawn in a police station. There were easily around 20 guns, hundreds of cans, ammunition, rangefinders, clothing, drinks, weapon adds, scopes etc etc

This happened to anyone else?  :lol:
